Oh no, I was saying that I'm not very good. Sorry I can see that it could be interpreted different.

No worries man, I got what you meant. And if people *don't* like something, I'm open to hearing them out!
Unfortunately, sales took a dive yesterday. 58 copies sold, around $40 made.
People, on the whole, seem to be enjoying it though, and that in itself has made me re-examine my future output.
I do not want to disappoint the people that bought this and enjoyed it by putting 'anything' out there. So, some projects have been shelved, and others will not be released until they're good and ready.
Thanks all for your support! Should be submitting an update today to add more unlocks and fix bugs. Just a bit more testing needed!
This is a great game, QS! It really gives me a lot of ideas about games in general. I have no plans of stealing any specific elements of your game, but just the idea of unlockables has really got me thinking. I have unlockables in many of my games but the characters, colors, music, etc. is just such a cool idea! It has really made me think about what sorts of things I could put in my games as "incentives".
Best of luck with this! I sure hope Apple features it soon.

Definitely. Just take a look at any modern game, achievements and unlock-ables (no matter how arbitrary) add replay value to your game, no doubt. If you want a little bit more longevity out of your releases, adding things like unlocks is a great way to do it.
Hi, QS I noticed a little mistake. Perhaps it has mentioned before but I didn't want to read this loooong thread. Since I;m a lefty I chose to flip controls. They flip fine but the icons are wrong in the game screen.
I still like the game a lot, I'm not such a gamer anymore (no patience anymore but I play it a couple of times a day so I guess that says something.

Dude - brilliant - thankyou! Totally missed that!
A fix will go in today's update!
Cheers!

Bizarrely, the retro shooter I have had planned for the last year has no unlocks at all! In fact, you can play any of the 10 levels at any time! This was so that you'd get to hear all the music as there's a different track for every level!
The idea though in the shooter is to get a high score - unlike Air Supply, whose focus is on unlocking stuff!
And obviously, if you play from level 5 in the shooter, you won't get as high a score as someone that's played from level 1. So there's a trade off there
God knows when I'll get it finished though! I'm now planning a platform game based on Air Supply... and there are lots of other ideas I'd like to explore too!
As it's score based, I think I should wait for GameCentre implementation. It really can't come soon enough!

A platformer based on Air Supply sounds intriguing!

If it's half as good as it appears in my head, I'll be *very* happy!

The computer the music was made on, the ZX Spectrum, is older than you are! By quite a margin! It reminds me of being a child again personally, so I'm especially thrilled when its 'sound' is introduced to people who've never even heard of it before!
artonskyblue said: I really hope you get a main feature on thursday. If anyone deserves it, it's definitely you.
That's very kind of you to say, but I doubt it will happen. I was under the impression that if your game was being considered, Apple contacts you for more promo pics or something?

I think that is only if they're featuring you for game of the week where they would need a banner made for your game. Not entirely sure, but i would guess for the main n&n feature you find out the day it happens without any notice from apple. Maybe darren can clarify that for you.
I forgot to mention - I submitted an update to Apple today to fix a few bugs here and there (thanks to those who reported them!) and add an extra character and extra music track!
Apple can feature you with or without contacting you. For Banner purposes, you would receive an email a few days before. For N&N front page, it's usually a surprise...

Unfortunately no. They've managed, maybe, to keep things steady, but it's hard to tell what affects what. I'm on Touch Arcade, here, World of Spectrum, Twitter, Facebook and a few other sites promoting the game. Getting a correlation between one sort of promotion and sales is difficult to say the least!
I'm hoping for a feature tomorrow on itunes, but that'll be just luck, really!
Regardless - I've had some lovely messages from people who've unlocked everything and really enjoyed the game! It's certainly been an awesome experience making it!
Hey I played your game and I must say: "You're just an example for me". It maybe a bit of but-licking :P, but I think you deserve it! .. Good luck with the sales sheep!

Keeps me wanting to play just to see what's next (even though I pretty much suck at it)

by the way how are the sales going?
Sales are ok - it's down to about 20 the last two days, which isn't too shabby. If it can keep that up for a month...

Air Supply, in the UK at least, is featured in New and Noteworthy - main games page.
I need a cup of tea and a sit down...
Thanks to everyone for their support - I'll let you know if it makes any difference to sales!
Thank you Apple overlords!

Edit - btw, the first person I told was Butterbean who happened to be on Skype at the exact moment I found out. Her reaction was:
