I heard stories of the depth of human greed when you yourself are rich. I heard about this millionaire who lived in a third world country, had all his money stolen by the bank he had it stored in. The bank fled the country with said money, leaving him only with what he could get from selling the mansion and from that point on, all his descendants lived middle or low class lives.
So you see, if you live anywhere outside the U.S., you risk losing your money, as well as the attitude of people in third world countries towards anybody with some wealth is really spiteful.
I myself, am on a quest for money, but only to fund the game I want to make, which will require many resources like programmers and high quality assets since it will be in 3D. If I just had $50,000 already, that would be all I need to meet the minimum requirements to begin development.
While posting and writing a summary of said game, I found out about the gold-mine market of apps, html5, and so on.
I predicted the market would be paying out a lot within the next year, this Flappy Bird thing as well as other hits is proof of this. If I were that Flappy Bird guy, I would be using that money to create a game development team or company.
Also, once said game was complete, I would go back to doing art, except now I would have the money for a better tablet and other equipment. Probably give excess amounts of money to relatives or to fund up-start indie game companies or hold game tournaments with huge money prizes and low or non-existent entrance fees.
Yes to do all that even in the states one needs people they can trust. First you need a good lawyer and accountant you can trust and will provide excellent advice. Building a start up, even with millions of dollars is a daunting task. I'm by no means discouraging such a quest but cautioning people it's not as easy as it appears and the road is full of pitfalls. Without preparation and a strong constitution one is destined for issues that can be overwhelming.

The odd thing is that in addition to the shady circumstances of the rise of his app, he apparently released an update right after or right around the time he said he was shutting it down and he admits that he is still developing games. Neither of those by themselves spell out dishonesty but taken as a whole I still find it all difficult to believe.
SO if people have such a hard life with money. Then why do they complain when we talk about taking a lil from them for taxes. Seems like a win win. You lose a lil money and the money you loses helps take a lil weight off the poor. So from now on I want to see Rich people with signs saying rich need more tax.
you know your successful when people try to start knocking you down. it would suck that after speculation he was hacking his way to the top, that it be true and he's just afraid to get caught. apps can go viral...I myself would go a little nuts if I say...made an app to do something so silly as to use a single finger to play...even just pushing a red button....and then within a year make $50K a day...of course I wouldn't take it down if it was legit.
What exactly was suspicious about the rise of his app? He got featured by an enourmously influential YouTuber, which pushed him up the charts. As soon as he was ranked, the rise of an app like that was almost guaranteed.
There are definitely questions to be raised about the red ball, but I've not seen a single piece of evidence pointing to unfair play regarding Flappy Bird.

He ticked a lot of boxes and I really don't why so many people seem to begrudge him his success or take it so personally when it turned out this level of success wasn't something he wanted. And once again, his success is NOT comparable to most of us achieving similar success. He's in a VERY different situation. We might all just want to roll around in piles of money, but he doesn't and that's his right.
Flappy Birds rise started before the video but I still don't really see foul play just luck looking at appannie it started oct 29 and was not over night hit but kept building slow.
But Red Bouncing Ball started on Jan 30 and was #1 on Jan 31.
Interestingly the performance curve of Flappy Bird looks just like flight path needed to get a score of 9 points, I call conspiracy, I don't know who's behind it but I bet it involves cloaked men in darkened rooms.
I'm not making any value judgement on it, but you just have to look at the unusual consistency of the length, language and quantity of the reviews to call shenanigans ...

From now on any game he makes it's 100% guaranteed he'll be getting a ton of downloads, paid or free because people will now know him as the guy who made Flappy Bird. He's now up there with Angry Birds, also just because his game is now removed from the AppStore he'll still be receiving his daily "50k", people still have it on their devices so right now he's laughing

Being wealthy is what you make of it. It can be a blessing or a curse. It all lies within how you have shaped yourself as a human being through your life choices.
Money doesn't change you (make you worse or make you better), it magnifies who you already are. All the great things about you can be put into action through charities, employing others and giving rise to opportunity.
It also enables all the negative things about you... drugs, lust, deceit, materialism, pride, etc.

My generation has a terrible entitlement issue. Taking is stealing, even when it's done by your government. Charity is not charity at all when your money is taken by others through force. Especially not when most is wasted. Charity is a moral responsibility that can only be performed by the individual. When Principles slip away in a greedy society you start to see more and more choices delegated towards government.
The amount of tax waste is ridiculous. Our government spends trillions of dollars. Billions of potential job creating dollars gets sent to other countries as war aid to arm the very people that end up going to war with us and killing our own civilians who paid for their weapons. All the while they stockpile the food and let their civilians die.
In the past 4 years the amount of people on food stamps has nearly doubled (nearing 50 million). The war on poverty has created more impoverished people than anything else. Why?
We praise the entrepreneur for wanting to be successful, but if someone is deemed 'too successful' we demonize them. It's absolutely ridiculous.
If rich people who earned their money are selfish, then what is the person who demonizes them then wants to steal that very same wealth?
Wealth is your responsibility because people are valuable, including yourself. You are at the front of the line of responsibility. Wealth builds wealth for others. Make your own pie and stop worrying about getting a little bit of everyone else's.
Spreading the wealth ensures equality only in the loss of opportunity. People create opportunity not government. There is no better person to wisely invest your money than yourself. No central planning will ever make a better life for anyone.

When people express an opinion it's clear what they are thinking as the written word is nothing more than thoughts expressed. I too find the lack of empathy for this person disturbing.
Well we can also say how you know how this person truly is. It's easy to hide anything on the internets, including your real intentions and personality.

This makes me want to release my app under a studio name. Not that I'm expecting huge success anytime soon. Do you legally have to be a business to do so? Or can you just say, "I'm a studio now and this is its name." ?
One needs to be a legal entity but you can do it yourself with a website like legal zoom and file for a tax ID not hard to do. This whole situation reminds me of Dave Chapelle another person who found the wisdom to walk away when it was too much.
