Hunn- I disagree on GS not being able to put out a top 100 app, when you look at games that have been in the top 100, they are games that could have been made my gamesalad like "toddler phone" and some of these other games like More toast and pizza... if we had pixel collision we could do a lot more, but I think that someone here will eventually put out a top 100 app with Gamesalad... :)

    I hate it when I'm right :)

Doodle Ski made it in the top 100 paid apps, and was a Gamesalad app too

    Cha Ching! :)

    @ Hunn: That's awesome!!

Very nice! Congrats! You got a Ferrari yet? I'm hoping to sell enough just for an NSX... I miss being rich... it was fun... LOL.
  • AfterBurnettAfterBurnett Member Posts: 3,474
    that's pretty decent, though!

    Thanks :-)

Our next game is coming in a few weeks.

You can see screenshots as a sneak peak here: http://iphone.3dmagicbox.com/commando.php

Unfortunately also not made with Game Salad... it's made with unity.

We are now working on our own OpenGL ES 3D engine and on another 3D game, which will be a Tank Death Match game.

    EDIT: still no ferrari :-D
We are working on making the company bigger. We need every penny. The only thing we spent money on are two ipads for testing multiplayer for our games :-)

I'll check it out! I have Unity too. I'm gonna have another go at it after a couple more GS projects, now that I understand the fundamentals of attributes etc. I spent a lot of money on Unity iPhone and haven't used it!

Wow, that looks AWESOME! Kinda like a modern version of Calibre 50... or indeed... Commando. LOL.
  • HunnenkoenigHunnenkoenig Member Posts: 1,173
To be honest it is almost an 1:1 conversion of Commando :-D

Tell us a bit more about being rich! :-)
    How did you lose it?

I was VERY stupid... pretty much spent all my tax money. We have this thing called GST, where your employer pays you 12.% on top of your wages and every 6 months you have to pay that to the government (- any claims)... alas, I tended to spend it and it adds up.... 12.5% of 4.5k each week... what an idiot I was. Problem was I started earning big diollars from the age of 16 (was acting in a TV show for 12 years in NZ)... I just developed bad habits. I'll get there again, though ;-)

    Oh, I see.

If you are famous and you earn big money in young age, it can be dangereous if you have nobody watching after you.

I am also in the movie/TV business, but on the other side of the camera :-)

I know a few children actors as a friend and I always try to treat them as a normal person, so they don't believe, they always stay the cute stars, but their parents do their "work" well too :-)

It's sad for you, that it worked out the wrong way, but I am sure, you will manage it again.

Remember it as a cool and funny time that nobody can take from you anymore and don't be sorry. Take it as a lesson and next time try to keep it for a longer period without losing the fun :-)

Hehe, I ended up crossing behind the other side of the camera too. I've been a sound recordist/boom operator for the last 5 years until recently... got too annoying as I wanted to be back in front of the camera. Got my first acting gig in years a couple of weeks back, guest role in a cop show called City Homicide. Was a bit of fun and got me back into it! So, now I work part time in a call centre until I make enough money from acting and game dev to survive :D

Gary Coleman was the perfect example of Childhood Stardom gone bust. Poor Guy had noone watching out for him, and ended up working as a Security Guard at some Mall in Santa Monica. He got royally screwed, and he was not well either :(

My only speech role on TV was this (I am the photographer :-)):

Otherwise I like to play as an extra if there is something cool going on.
For example I was in Pillars of the Earth:

I can't check out the video yet... at work, blocked. Cool costume, though!

Haha, all I understood was "That is good!"

    :-)
You have to learn german :-P

Although it's mostly spoken in viennese dialect (or a lighter version of it), so even if you speak german, you probably won't understand really :-)

The current state of the game will stay now for a long time.

We are concentrating on new projects and in our opinion updates wouldn't bring more new customers.

Updates is good for customer care and strongening the brand and our name, but we have no ressources for it at the moment.

Who already bought the game, is/was happy with it but we don't think there is more potential in it to get it to the top again.

It seems that money is flowing steady and we are happy with it as it is now. We rather want to try making new and better games.

If somebody wants, can open up a new topic about the "importance of updates for an already successful game" and we can discuss it there.

Do a sequel! I'm gonna buy Alpine Crawler today :)
