Everything is working great until I click on the little arrow that brings up the kindle's options menu. This causes the screen to resize slightly. Then I change the volume a bit and close the option menu. Try to play the game again and the ninja falls right through the platforms. I am wondering if the screen resize during the kindle menu popup is having an effect on the game's X and Y value determinations. If I close the game and open it back up it will run flawlessly until I bring the kindle's menu up and then the same thing happens every time.
So I wrapped all my ninja rules in a rule that says when self.time > 0.5
So now when I bring up the kindle menu and go back into the game the ninja hovers in the air above the platform for about 2.5 seconds and then the game stutters a bit and then starts working properly. So I have made some improvement in this area but still not perfect.
Maybe I need to put a huge disclaimer saying "Don't Touch the Kindle Menu!!!!!"
the sounds are definitely delayed... I tested a few games on it last night, and so far, on the viewer, I didn't have any bugs, just the usual interpolate bug, and sound delays.
Still waiting for publishing to be fixed so I can test the .apk files..
@butterbean - did you follow tenrdremer's video exactly?
It worked for me. Though I would get error messages from GS about 50% of the time. I think it had to do with the second version number (the one android actually cares about not the public one). As long as that was higher than the last time I published it seemed to work. I also wondered if having a " ' " in my app name caused a problem. Not sure.
@scitunes: Interesting... I had wondered about the version number too, but I don't think that should be causing an error... I will try to put a higher version number in there and see if that helps.. I wonder if it tracks how many times you published (and gawd knows I've attempted this a zillion times) so I guess my version number at this points would be 1001 or something ;P
I received my Kindle Fire a couple of hours ago. My first impressions are it isn't an iPad or an Apple product that is for sure! Wow. It is pretty clunky to move around and do things. I tried to side load a video and does it show up under video? Nope...you have to go to the Gallery app to find the video you side loaded. Wow...who knew.
I was able to get the GameSalad Viewer installed via USB...I kept getting a parse error when I sent it to myself. Weird. Then I couldn't get the GS Viewer to connect via wifi then all of a sudden it did...again weird. I was able to transfer over one of my QuizOn apps...just a simple quiz app that does have music and some sounds. Everything seems laggy. Sounds don't trigger on time. The app works...and looks good on the beautiful Kindle Fire screen (yes the screen and colors on this thing is incredible). Not sure if the lag is due to the viewer or the app. I guess I need to do an app build and see if I can load it on the Fire and try that.
Oh...I REALLY REALLY miss the lack of a quick to get to volume button. There is NO way this will be an iPad killer but I do think because of the price point it will be a big seller. I am not sure how well my mom would do with this thing however out of the box. If I had trouble trying to figure out how to find the dang volume button what the heck will my mom do :-)
@scitunes: I tried putting in a higher version, and still get an error, I don't think that's the issue.. I know there are some peeps that can publish, and others that get the error, so not too sure why!
@Greg: The lack of a volume button on the kindle was a huge gaping flaw with the device
Got my fire today and it seems pretty descent, especially for 200 bucks. I probably won't use it much outside of testing, but I don't even use my iPad much outside of testing either.
I was having the parse error when I tried to open any apk through my email so I just saved the file and then downloaded a file manager from the amazon appstore to open it. I used androxplorer and it installed my apks just fine.
I published some apps earlier today and didn't have any problems with that.
Thanks for your video tenrdrmer. I don't understand why the cookbook instructions are filled with useless stuff you don't need to do. Following your video I was able to get everything working fine.
My apps are running the same speed both through the viewer and once a install an apk build.
I'm also having a huge delay in audio, and in general my apps are running way slower than they did on ios. My game was running at 60fps on an iPhone 4, but around 35 to 40 on the fire.
If they run this way on the fire with a dual core 1ghz cpu, I wonder how they will perform on the still popular single core 1ghz and 800mhz cpu phones.
some editing going on again. some sous deleted my post.. don't even know why. all i said was you can't sell on android market place because non of the device can buy it.. and I even go further trying to help other member fix their problem ... am I wrong? or there's some messed up censorship going on?

lol please lets not try to start drama. This thread is about the kindle fire, someone just moved it to the right thread for you.
everyone of them played great! There where the sound delay and interpolate issues people have seen, but every game got 50 fps, except obliteration hd, that dropped to 20 when the buildings exploded.
i think with an hour or so each to cleanup/update the older games they will be good to go!
I'm going to try publishing in about 3-4 hours when I have some free time.
gregr209, to get around the Parse Error, don't open the apk from your email, save it, then download a file manager and browse to your downloads folder and install it directly.
I didn't email the apk to myself. I connected the Kindle Fire to my Mac and added the file to a download folder...then used a file manager to try and open it. Still getting the dang Parse Error. I had the same problem with the GS Viewer file and I did finally get that to work. So dang weird.
Well, i followed tenrdrmer's youtube video, and it got me through to the publishing step, but I got the dreaded GS Server is having publishing problems, please try again later.

tenrdrmer said: Have not tested on the Fire but my apps have played perfectly through the viewer on android handhelds and tablets but Absolute crap once I loaded the .apk directly. Major differences in my experience between the two for me.
Well I have found and fixed the reason for the differences. Another user posted about the comment off button not taking effect on Android build. I went through and removed anything that was shut off and now my android build works perfectly.
Reporting to GS now to make sure they are looking into it. but until then…now you know.

Yep did one about 20 min before my last post. The issues with android publishing have been really weird. I have been fortunate so far to nt be affected. I just hope they get it fixed before my number is up.
Woo (sort of) ... My mate has just got back from America with my Kindle Fire .... lovely little device except i can't download anything as it says that the Amazon store isn't yet available in my region (UK)! D'oh!

Just my first 2 cents on the Kindle Fire.

I like the device, it's no iPad, but I think it will do well this Christmas.
