Has anyone received their Kindle Fire yet and done a GS build on it? Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow! Can't wait. Played with one last night at Target and I liked it.
I have one of my apps resized for the Kindle Fire just waiting to go.

So Butterbean....how is it overall? Let me know when you get the viewer working. I will probably be in the same boat as you tomorrow if you can't get the viewer working.
Keep me posted TShirtBooth when you do get yours.

I think it's much smoother than the Nook color (the old model) and the viewer installed just perfectly onto the device, but it won't sync a game via wifi through the creator, so I need to get a micro USB cable and test my games that way.
Very exciting!
Also, to install the Viewer via the Kindle you can do it by opening up the .apk file via your gmail account.
On the Nook you cannot do this, and have to install the viewer through the terminal. I may do a tutorial on this for people that are snagging a nook color, and how to upload .apk files, and the viewer for the Nook Color. It can be very daunting!
Are you saying without usb cable the viewer doesn't work? I'll try now with wifi only. Wifi only and everything works (just like on the iPad) i get all my feedback.
The only setting i changed (i just bought it 30 min ago) was the "trust sources other then amazon" or what ever it says"
Is it possible she is on wrong wifi network???
I thought you would have to sideload apps, but it would be easier to use gmail.
Everyone is saying that since amazon has an appstore that everything will run just fine on the kindle fire, but what about other devices?
Any android device can use the amazon appstore, so I'm wondering if you can select that your app is just for kindle fire, or other tablets with 1024x600 resolution.
The nook appstore will be cut and dry though because the only devices that use it are the nook color and tablet, so you know exactly what devices will be using your apps.
I wonder if you can select nook tablet only on the nook appstore. If games are running slow on the kindle fire which has the same dual core 1ghz processor as the nook tablet, then I would imagine they would grind to a halt on the nook color with its single core 800 mhz processor.
I get to play with it tomorrow

On the Nook however, you can't, everything must be installed and uninstalled via the terminal, which is a PIA. I'll be doing a video tutorial on this tonight.
@MjMdesign: I don't think the Kindle is the iPad killer, because there are so many die hard apple fans out there, but I think it's the best competitor yet... much smoother, and less clumsy than the Nook device (the old one that is)

can you direct me to where I can toggle that setting you mentioned?
Thanks!
Yes, my kindle does flip the screen and I haven't pushed the power button on accident... YET! It's on the bottom of the Kindle...
I have not tried the fix yet as it isn't that bad for me yet.
@fzeed: I hope it's resolved quickly as well!

For me the viewer works but it is a bit inconsistent. The first attempt failed. Or so I thought. All I got was a black screen so I exited the viewer, reopened it, and tapped on the "recent" list and the game that I thought had crashed (or never opened) was listed there. So I clicked on it and it worked perfectly (other than sounds being delayed). Then I tried to use the viewer again and it open right away and gave me the fps data, etc.
Now I am going to try and create an apk and load it through gmail.
fingers crossed!
So other than those issues things seem to be working pretty well. THe frame rate of the published apk seems to be inline with the viewer. I'll report back with more details after I try to iron out these bugs.
