    Wow this game looks amazing!!! So many actors and animations... how big it is already and how big it'll be when finished you recon?
    Great work.

    @Ferin
    Thanks mate! not sure about your question , are you referring to the file size? if so , the project is currently at approximately 30mb (no sound implanted yet)

    20/12/2011 update :
    Spells :
    So i have chosen the way of spawning , that works best for now , meaning i have deleted the 62 spell actors from the scene , and gained back my 17fps ,
    When spawning a spell , the game glitches for the first time (guess its because it needs to load the image) but the second time you use the spell its fine with no glitches.

    Land scape objects:
    Up until now , i did not use tiles (and still don't) , cause GS still won't display tiles as retina , and it looks bad in the project ,
    Therefor i needed to put each and every single tree or bench etc one by one!
    Yesterday i made a big change , i started to use replicate for the landscape objects , so instead of 7 tree actors in a row , i now have only 1 that replicates its image ,
    And the best thing about it is that it displays retina graphics !
    Deleting all those extra landscape objects actors also gain me a few fps ;)

    Overall performance :
    The game plays pretty good , but its too early to say , there are more animations coming in all the time , and there is the sound effects that needs to be added ,
    On an ipad 2 (i don't have iPad 1) the game runs perfectly , not a single glitch , but thats pretty obvious , after all the ipad2 is powerful , so i would expect the same performance from the iPhone 4s , However , i see fps drops on my iPhone 4 ..
    In iphone 4 , some stages run at a nice 55 fps , but in some sections in the game it goes down to 45 , and even 35 !
    Im still fighting performance , and i recycle as much as i can ..
    Oh well ... still looking for the "second part" of the performance improvement that GS mentioned a month ago ..

    Overall progress :
    I think I'm currently at 20% finished ;)
    I have the first 3 stages of the game done , 17 more to go ..
    But the more assets i finish , the faster the next stages will take to make..

    And off-course , another sneak peak: (I know the english is bad in the game, it will be corrected)
    Here you gonna see a battle , don't forget guys its a work in progress so be easy on me .

    Cheers!

    Hey Roy ... love the look of your project ... was wondering how close to reality the player on a device is as compared with an adhoc? Considering the creator has some issues running on some peoples fully loaded Macs is it possible the player doesn't run effeciently enough to give accurate real-world fps? (Perhaps this has been covered before ... yet again .. can't search the forum to see) ... can we see the fps on an adhoc? Or are you running in the xcode simulator when you check fsp (if that is even possible)

    @simo103
    I base my testing on the device viewer , and i see the data (fps , ram etc) in the creator when previewing ..
    i do have some cluttering even though the fps is 55 , i am a victim to the "camera stuttering" problem, still waiting for a fix !
    To you question , NO , You can't see fps on an adhoc , (well you can built an in game system, and display it via "display text" , but the system itself consume resources so the read will not be accurate) ..

    @ashtmj
    Thanks mate ;) wait till you see the other , super cool weapons ;)

    Another sneak peak guys !
    This time ill show you a peak to level 4 ,
    See , In level 3 the 2 heroes finds a lost child in the woods , and they split up - 1 to bring the child back home , and the other to continue the journey ,
    so this is from level 4 where "hero 2" brings the child home safe , the main goal of the level is to keep the child "safe" , from enemies that tries to kill them.

    Cant wait for arrays (tables) i stopped working on the in-game market , cause i think it will be much better to do with tables , i hope that this feature will behave the way i imagine it to be..

    it was ... "you seen what this person is saying about you?.(link), terrible things.." ... the link was blocked by twitter, but you may want to change your twitter password if you never sent me that...however if you did, then tell me who it is I'm going to beat them up :D
  • POMPOM Member Posts: 2,599
    We need to beat up both who said things about you and also the person that keeps hacking my twitter!! I've changed the password.. Again . please let me know if it happens again mate.

    Cheers

    Roy,

    It might not be the password. Go to your twitter account settings and look at Applications. You might have given access to an application which tweet in your behalf...

    Gabby,
    Thanks for the advice , iv'e revoked all apps in my twitter account, lets hope it will stop this madness !

    Back on topic ,
    Today i made a new enemy , its an evil sand snail :)
    It looks cute and harmless at first sight, but as soon as it attacks you its wickedness emerge !

    Previously i mentioned there will be 20 puzzles the player must solve in the story , well.. that number has reduced to 12 at the moment ,
    I already finished building the mechanics of 5 of them , and seeing my friends struggling to solve them was a lovely sight (in a good way)
    I try to build 1 puzzle every 2 days or so , building the mechanics is challenging and it breaks the routine of the game , i like it , and i like the results so far.

    Still looking for good names for the characters - hero 1 , hero 2 , the princess , the dark wizard etc , all needs to be named ,
    I would love to hear your suggestions ;)

    YES ROY! That was awesome.

    Little things like the Chatting then the intense music while running, to the girl spitting her tongue at the bad guy.
    Love the Graphics and animations, you've come along way with this mate!

    I would like to see some more quirky font in the chat box though :)

    Keep it up! Doing very well.

    Edit - I watched it again! :D
    I wanna make an RPG one day. Actually been collaborating with an Artists about it for a while and have some concept art.
    But people keep telling me RPG's are very hard to make.

    I would like to see a video of what happens if you don't get away.. :)

    I think recycling is over rated. With the new A5 chips I say spawn away.

    @FryingBaconStudios - I agree a little bit mate.
    I think in a way it's unfair to people with the older gens, BUT MAN! We should unlock our full potential I reckon.
    As long as my game isn't downgraded, no problem! But I want it to be awesome to.

    Hey roy quick question but your game seems to be some epic zelda like adventure how long do you think the game will be?...about an hour, longer shorter?
  • POMPOM Member Posts: 2,599
    edited February 2012
    SAZ ,
    I haven't played zelda (please don't throw rocks at me) so i don't know if its gonna be similar to it ..
    If we gonna do some math.. the final file will have 13 levels that if you just run smoothly through them (impossible unless you have god power or something) and if you ignore all the "text conversations" they will take you 2 minutes each , but if you actually play them , they can take up to 6-10 minutes each (this is what probably gonna happen) , next we have 13 puzzles (one in each level) , the average person will take 1-3 minutes to solve the easy ones , and 3-6 minutes to solve the hard ones,
    Next we have the market place - where you can customize the heroes , i believe a person can spend an average of 10 minutes in the market place throughout the game, next you have a few cut scenes , nothing long, i believe 2-3 minutes to see them all .

    So adding all that up ,because its all averages, there will be some people that will finish the game in 40 minutes , and there will be some players that will finish it in 3 hours.
    It all depend on the player and how he love to explore the world and read the texts, and not just run to the finish line..

    Oh , and we didnt take into calculation this thing : Photobucket

    lol... thats pretty good man... the Zelda im referring to was an old school game back when i was like 5 yeards old or something... i think its pretty good 40mins-3hours id probably be towards the later end of that as well as i like to take my time playing my games... its like with grisly manor ( i took ages on this one, couldn't for the life of me understand the people saying it was short) and although i bought the lost city i haven't started it yet... so thats pretty good in my opinion!
