Ive played a couple of levels, and really liking it so far.
I especially like the audio.... the music has a very "Quatermass" feeling to it... and really does a superb job at setting the mood.
Im gonna have to get contact details off the Sheep for his audio guy, as i think his work is excellent. Does he do general contracting work?
My one personal criticism is that I think the graphics are maybe a bit too cute... dont get me wrong, Debug has done a great job. I just think the audio, and the story/quotes set a more serious/ominous tone that the cute style graphics kind of fight against....
Like I said though, thats just a personal taste... and Im really liking it so far. The simple controls really work well....
Yeah, I agree. LOVE the audio... SOOOOO atmospheric... as for the gfx being "cute", I thought that at first but they grew on me... not quite sure how else it could be done, really... I think if the gfx were too realistic it might ruin the retro feel...
Just bought it in the italian store! What I like: -graphics -sound -gameplay, even if for now it seems a little on the "simple" said (level 3), I'm sure things will get a bit more complicated
What I don't like: -I do not know if it's a multi-touch issue, but the game is not responding well. I mean, I do not know how many times I pressed that left arrow WHILE shooting, and it just didn't work. Sometimes I press the fire button several times, and only some of the "tapping" seems to be registered, and when sometimes it doesn't fire immediately, it seems to fire "after" I've pressed (even after seconds), and this happen with arrow key too. Like, I press the right button, nothing. After a second or two, it rotates to the right.
For this I can't really blame QS, as I'm starting to think that gs can't really handle game with even little spawning as I would like them to. In fact, the problem seems to be stronger the more enemies are on the screen.
Other things, too much loading times having a scene for everything, it would be much better with at least all the menu in one scene. Not really liked the "bam, right into the game" when you choose a level, but that's me.
Sound is really really good. Maybe, as other said, the graphics are a bit to "cartoonish", but I like them anyway.
Overall, I'm happy I bought it For me, it needs to be polished in some things, but I really like the concept and the game as it is now.
It should be available in the US in an hour or so, because from my experience apps set on a date are usually released an hour before the actual release that (12AM of that day) so will buy it and play it really soon!!
I'm very excited, it looks amazing!! AHHHHHH congrats!!!
POLYGAMe said: Really? I've not experienced any issues with the controls... work great for me
I'm starting to think that it's my iphone 3gs that it's broken Maybe I'm to picky. I like really polished things the most. So, am I the only one that sometimes press on an arrow while shooting, and the ship doesn't move? Am I the only one that notice that not always a bullet appear when I press the fire button? If that's so, maybe I have to get an Iphone 4 sooner than I thought
Thanks MDearworth - that's awesome - I really hope you like it!
@Hachiko - I actually managed to install it on my 1st gen ipod touch - which it's not designed for at all. I had the same issues you're having with it on your 3GS... weird
I tested it extensively on my own 3GS, and a couple of other people tried it on an iPod 3G with no issues .
I'm sorry to hear you're having these problems. I wouldn't release a game in the playable state you describe, believe me!
