That makes perfect sense to start making games...any app....I don't plan on making an even more complex game than I can make on the iOS platform...and def with less graphics. I still stand firm a simple slots game with a score...spin button and 3 reels is not a big deal.

Can you imagine playing that tiny ass pinball game on a bright ass color screen. You won't even know of your squinting from the light or how close you have to hold it to know what's going on.
If you remember the old LCD game watches they all had one important feature "Buttons". So what ever game you make for Apple Watch your finger is in the way even more the there iOS devices.
But I still want too try and make something for them.
I get everyone's enthusiasm, but really, wait at least until Apple announces something tangible about the platform that would make it sensible to start developing stuff -- meaning at least a resolution and what hardware components you will have access to.
The Touch Arcade forum announcement is the same as an announcement on the forums here, it proves nothing and means nothing, because that person has no more info than anyone else out there.
Why is it always the usual suspects who get in a frenzy and derail the methodical development of GS? Let's stay on track here. Everyone demanded Facebook, multiplayer et... This stuff isn't finished yet and no there is the new flavor of the month. You can't have a development cycle that blows in the wind. Heck half these people who demand stuff end up giving up on game development before this stuff is even implemented. Wait until multiplayer come out. It's hard logic to write. I predict major whining about how hard it is. Advanced features are going to require more knowledge on our part and more work. Everything can't be point and click.

I am just got to let you know a few facts about this. One this device is not available for a year and second we have no access to the Apple Watch SDK.

Let me clarify on my previous comment on this thread:
Would I like GameSalad to support the Watch? Heck yes! Do I want them to support it as soon as humanly possible? Absolutely not! It would be nice to have eventually, but goodness, there are dozens of things I would rather have. A more functional multiplayer, the cross-platform creator, etc, just to name a few. I'd suggest the following: wait until the cross platform creator has been released before trying to support anymore devices/platforms.
I have no interest in developing games for the watch, but it might be interesting for some aspects of a game's functionality to transfer over. Apple have stated that Watch apps should compliment, not replace iPhone apps. I think that's true for games, too. Extend your game onto the Watch, don't just port it to the Watch.
The iWatchKit is now available. Got my message from Apple last night...started the xcode with kit diwnload and then read in the Apple forums the 4 types of Apps allowed for the iWatch...I dont see GS having a real reason to do anything now at this point. Pretty limiting I understand. I can say one thing my slots sure seem like a NO GO ! :-(
I just read over the watchKit sdk I am not sure how you would use this for games. Its more a notification/client server model. Any view you place on the watch does not get updated in really time. I don't think you can run an OpenGL view on the watch. How would you guys use it IF it was available?

Without knowing the technical limitations . . . there will obviously be an ongoing market for new and crazy watch designs (everything from 8bit PacMan watches to lunar cycles), alarms, calendars and all that kind of stuff, and if there was access to the various sensors then a whole world of monitoring fun will ensue.

I can't believe you even asked.
But really, I would to be able to make custom faces or animated screens, and what @Socks mentioned.
Its not going to be a game-viewing device. (At least not for for the first iteration.) But perhaps we should think of how it can be used as an interface device to enhance iPhone/iPad games.
Give GameSalad the ability read its sensors (heart rate, GPS, accelerometer), and I'll make a 3D stereoscopic, first person, Jedi light-saber, training device. (Picture Luke Skywalker sticking an iphone in his Google Cardboard, putting on his apple watch, and then dodging the training droid as it buzzes around his head.)
Give GameSalad access to the heart-rate sensor, and I'll make biofeedback games that will put even the most stressed out person into a state of zen blissfulness.
If GameSalad could read the Apple Watch's GPS, I would make a bunch of hideNseek, or lostNFound games for kids. (Button, Button, who's got the button.)
With access to the Apple Watch's accelerometer and GPS, GameSalad could be used to create Harry Potter-esq duels. (Like throwing spells and hexes back and forth.)
If GameSalad had access to the Apple Watch's crown sensor and the force-touch sensor, just think of the lunar lander clones that could be made! (All displayed on a HD display through Apple TV, of course.)
I agree , if these features could easily be accessed and coded in GS it would be worth the progression for publishing and compatibility for the watch .
There is no access to get information from any of the sensors of the watch in watch kit you can get scale and size of the display, and localization information. The only thing I see that might be help full is sending notifications however we don't support notifications at this time. See Apple doc for more info.

I agree. What they just announced was exactly what I was saying after the watch was first revealed, but nobody listened then, even though it was quite clear from the website and so on.

Gotta agree missing some good air time not being on the watch. plus could cross promote your phone games, Even link them with the new server add ons
Open a cupboard in game on the phone then the cupboard opens on the watch or mini games we need the watch capabilities.

Yeah the watch sdk is not designed to run games on. I am not sure i can get it to render any thing.
