They will. One of my early junkers "protect your nuts" was just god awful and when i did an update i was shocked to check app figures the next day and see that more than 2000 people downloaded the update!
BTW to date it has over 700 1 stars!! I can't help but wonder who the 180 weirdoes are that gave it 5... I even gave it 2 stars and it was mine lol
Guess thats why my early games took two days and my latest is now over a month in and im not half done (and i work full time at it) ..... Im hoping for a solid 3 star game this time around ><
Unless something crazy happens down the road, this will be the last post for me on this thread (other than answer other's questions, but I won't bump it).
After 3 or 4 days at $1.99 I am basically averaging the same profit as before the free day.
Thoughts:
This could have been way more successful if the game was better. I got torn up by the freetards' reviews and that can't be helping sales right now. In the end it may be OK because I certainly got the message and am now making major changes to the game. So maybe down the road when it is $.99 and a new update is released, people will have good things to say about it. I still have a lot of work to do on the update but I am hoping that it will turn things around sales wise. This also forced me to learn about things that really matter to the person playing the game. Some of the things I spent a good amount of time on are hardly noticeable - I should have been working on performance and game play.

Why you gotta pick asians for that example? Just kidding. LOL yeah good point though, that did sound once i saw it quoted. But i think you got what i meant.
Angry birds and doodle jump KNOW just about anyone will see what the buzz is about for a buck. I guess what i was trying to say is that the app store has created this mentality that more than .99 is expensive. If it wasnt true there wouldnt be so many .99 cent apps.
I have seen people post saying that it doesnt make a difference rather you go with 99 or 1.99 but, it does. Or so many games wouldnt go with that tier.
At any given time there are 5 or so .99 cent games i am thinking about checking out. Like I said if i know the game is good ill pay the 10 bucks. It's the .99 that encourages me to take a chance on something i have no idea about though.
The consensus is that there will be less people but the dollar amount will make up for it. As indies we want our game in as many peoples hands as possible though.
Yeah, I see your point. I was actually planning to release my game at $5 as I really don't like the whole 99c thing (if everyone put their prices up rather than trying to undercut everyone, there would be more profit to be made). The plan was to release a lite version for free and link to a $5 full game... but GS doesn't allow that link so it looks like I'll have to join the 99c crowd. PLUS the game would have to be super amazing to sell for $5... which I think it will be but that's really up to the players to decide.
adent42 said: So... about the analytics. We were using Pinch Media for our analytics, since they merged with Flurry they've stopped allowing creation of new analytics IDs on their system. Because of this, newer games will not have analytics.
We decided not to replace Pinch Media because we've heard that Apple has started rejecting (on occasion) apps with third party app analytics systems.
As such, analytics will only be available on older games (at least until Pinch closes down their analytics system).
We're looking into an acceptable replacement system or word that apple has stopped banning analytics.
We're revamping the project management interface, so we'll be able to make this all much more clear soon.
