One thing that has happened to me twice now is I get stuck, don't rotate, the alien doesn't either and there's nothing I can do to reset it.
I had a call interupt my game and it did it then.
Yeah, that bug was brought up by testers, and I was pretty damn sure I'd fixed it! Alas not!
It's a pretty hard bug to nail down - it requires many hours of playing to test any changes I've made, and then many hours again if it's not fixed! Eeek!
I *think* it's been fixed for the update (which will be out when Apple deems it ready!).
Still waiting to hear from @codewizard about why it crashes when I go to another scene
So, the update is out, but the game is crashing worse than before.
I think I've isolated the problem - it seems to be that when you press a button to post the high score to Game Center, the game will crash.
Playing with Game Center off will alleviate the issue - but that's no fun.
I've brought this up with the GS guys, but not had a response back on it, which is disappointing to say the least.
I'm happy to take the blame. It could very well be my fault. But I don't know for sure, and it seems a bit crazy that simply pressing a button to post a score would crash the entire game.
It looks visually appealing, and the gameplay lives up to the excitement.

A sick feeling sheepy
That's a pain to hear, although in my experience, something simple, such as changing an attribute has caused me constant crashes. This is because there is so much code is then related to that attribute happening at once it causes a crash. Hope it gets fixed for you as fast as possible.
@quantumsheep - chin up and stiff upper lip and get back to business buddy - you do some great stuff so don't let a bug like this get you down - every app that gets updated in the app store has 'bug fixes' and at least you don't have to do this...
The original release of the game was impossible to complete. You were supposed to be able to refuel your ship by either: a) landing on a planet; or b) reaching a sufficiently high score to get a new ship. Option a) didn't work, and option b) was impossibly high - so you couldn't make much progress. A subsequent release fixed these bugs but left in another one which wouldn't be found until right near the end, as one of the anagram solutions used 12 letters (OBERAMMERGAU), one more than the maximum the program could handle, so it crashed when it was entered. Melbourne House provided a patch to fix that. This patch is only useful with the final release of the game (after the other bugs had been fixed).
STARION FIX 10 CLEAR 65471 20 LET BASE=65472 30 LET CHK=0 40 FOR A=0 TO 51 50 READ B 60 POKE BASE+A,B 70 LET CHK=CHK+B 80 NEXT A 90 IF CHK <> 5408 THEN PRINT "DATA WRONG. CHECK LINES 130-200": STOP 100 PRINT "PLAY STARION TAPE FROM START" 110 LOAD "" CODE 120 RANDOMIZE USR BASE 125 REM 130 DATA 221,33,0,64,17,208,191 140 DATA 62,255,55,49,0,0,205 150 DATA 86,5,33,47,169,52,17 160 DATA 54,169,33,233,255,1,5 170 DATA 0,237,176,14,6,17,79 180 DATA 200,237,176,195,67,128 190 DATA 200,65,195,79,200,54 200 DATA 61,35,16,251,201
Now type RUN. If you get a "DATA WRONG" message then check the numbers in lines 130-200 until they are correct. Otherwise you will be asked to put the Starion tape in your player and play it as normal. The game will then be loaded and altered, ready to play.
Those were the days eh Hope this gives you some heart buddy, and a smile
Things like this hit me pretty hard. I really felt like giving up today.
Pretty much every app, even the stuff from big labels, has glitches and bugs, I've got quite a few games that crash completely, but it doesn't stop me playing them.

Ya bunny hop using this template had a glitch where every time you changed scenes the bunny would float above the world. I don't know how you fixed this. I think the template was just old or something. I ended up just making every thing be in 1 scene which made it very slow on older devices. The bug still happens sometimes if a call or notification comes in. Keep trying!
@quantumsheep theres a glitch in the game every time I skip the opening scene, the main character just floats above the world (not landing). just like @blue_elephant said the latest update unfortunately did not fix it, please fix this, its one of my favourite games now, but every time I want too play it I have to quit the app & come back about 2 times for the glitch to go. Thanks.

device: iPod Touch 4G - IOS 6
@RockitGames - I'm glad you like the game! Sorry you're having trouble.
The game has been tested on every phone down to an iPhone 3GS but the game may be a bit more glitchy on that device which is why I recommend a 4S and above in the game description as that works as intended.
You can even see me mention that in the blurb on my original post in this thread.
The iPod Touch you mention you have is a lesser device than an iPhone 4. Though it shares the same generation number, it has half the RAM (256MB as opposed to 512MB on the iPhone 4) so it's closer to a 3GS - at least memory wise
So, as I mention in the description, it *will* work on an iPhone 4 (and even an original iPad) but will work much better on newer devices.
There's not much I can do I'm afraid other than suggest you don't skip the intro, as you're playing it on a device that it wasn't designed for or tested on (as mentioned in my game's description on iTunes so as not to disappoint anyone!).
Unfortunately there's no way to I can see to rectify your issue
Sorry about that - handy you didn't buy it
Another cracker! Is there a Air Supply 3 in the works?
Thanks Ian!
I have a few planned, but they all take so long to do I think I need to do something else first.
I absolutely adore the universe I've built around the game, so would certainly love to make more!
Update seems a little more solid in that I got stuck and did not rotate but it soon started up again. iPhone 5.
Thank you, glad it's working better - that was the plan for this update - to lessen the chance of it getting bugged!
There's more to do, but my main issue is one I've brought up with the GS team about putting a 'post Game Center score' into a button. No matter what button I put it into, it will instantly crash the game.
There's no logical reason for it (which is why I've sent the file to them to look at).
There's been a bunch of artists that have worked on this - the most notable being Mr. Funkleberry who did the original art for the first game along with Basil who helped me finish that game.
For this game I've basically cannibalised the art from the first game, had a lot of help from my cousin, some help from Veira1 from the forums, some modified stock art and a bunch of stuff I did myself.
There's also the Gravonaut who was drawn by the lovely guys at Nexus Studio.
Mr. Funkleberry's original art set the template for the new stuff, but I'm glad that no-one's said any of the new stuff looks out of place in relation to the original art!
Ok, here's my experience on my iPod 4G - skinny chrome one with retina display.
I updated all my apps first and downloaded it. Quit all my apps and launched it.
Game loaded, intro played through smoothly (for the device)
Started the game and Sam was floating above the planet - I could not jump at all.
Took ages to die as you are out of range of the robots and have to hope you hit air.
Smart bombs work and you collected everything you touch.
At the end of the game, I hit Retry - then same was on the planet and playing was just as normal.
The start of the game might not give enough time for everything to load. It is like it didn't load some rule or attribute fully.
Generally I was suprised at how well it went with all the zooming particle animations and it is totally playable once Sam comes 'down to earth' - so to speak.
The reason rules won't complete is not an exact science, but I can pass on my experience.
Firstly as a scene loads it is crippled and lowers frame rate when filling the memory with images and sounds and those big byte kind of files.
You can imagine that on an old device that drops frames even if it is running great - but they are really bad at loading in ram in compared to newer devices.
I test all the way back to 3GS on my games. I don't go to the extent of using Xcode tools to track it but that is what I can see on the device and on the viewer.
You may have seen a post by me a while ago where rules within rules were not firing for me. When I had a bunch of rules in an actor and I wanted them to have one condition each and then wrap them in their common condition - usually works fine - I had issues with rules not firing. To solve that I just had the bunch of rules with two conditions. Then I had no problems.
This is a weird thing I don't know what sparks it off for nested rules to fail. But they can.
Other than that - it's an old device - I forgot my phone yesterday and while we were at the laundromat I played some games on her iPhone4 - oh my - so long to load some things and they just crashed half the time - and I got all the high scores on all the games I played. How is that? )

Please do give that a go - it's one of my favourites, and helped release a little stress earlier today!

This has a bit of a story behind it - I noticed this guy following me on twitter had a black and white avatar of a freezer!
So I asked him if I could put him in the game and he said yes!
It really fits the game, so a bit of a serendipitous moment there

The most I can suggest is closing all other games/apps down or restarting your iPod. Also, try turning off the scan lines, it's helped some people.

Thanks for taking the time to test that - I got similar results but couldn't figure out why Sam would start off mid-air.
As you mention, you *can* play the game - I attribute that to the particles being 'lighter' than actors!
BUT I couldn't in good conscience sell it to someone and say 'Oh, you can play it, just not on your first go'.
Hence the warning!
I'll look into it again in the new year, but I'm not hopeful for a solution
Cheers again,
