Yes, i'm pretty happy with my quote system. Random quote out of 100, varying in length. It's not to bad, and apparently it loads 3x as fast on newer phones. - Thomas
Ok, new question. So in the ToneMatrix, there is that amazing effect behind all of the squares. Is there any way to do something even remotely similar with particles? I have messed around, but it isn't quite possible from what i'm seeing. If not, i'll just have to spawn another 196 actors behind the current ones... yeah.
- Thomas
EDIT: Could someone remind me how to make spaces in the equation editor? I can't seem to find anything on it, but i've seen it before. (I know how to use .."Text"..)
@Chakku Yeah, I found a great website for quotes. It has some interesting ones, like Yoda. @LudwigHeijden - Thanks! I can't wait for this to be finished (In a good way)
I'm thinking about adding a hint in addition to the quote on the loading page.. Some of the quotes don't take 20 seconds to read. Should I keep it simple or add a hint also? - Thomas
Add a hint, doesnt have to be much, some people might not even read it but if they do read it, takes away the load time a bit! Certainly does no harm!
How many times have you played a game/app and thought, I wish they didnt show hints on this loading page? As opposed to Ooooh, I never knew that! I do now!

Just trying an Adhoc, How will I know when it's done? I went throught the GS website thing in the iPhone tab and clicked on Publish in the top right. It said to go look at the GS Cookbook while I wait Thanks, - Thomas
I didn't get an email, but it ended up finishing and working out.
I've got it on the device now, and it runs exactly the same as in the viewer. (No surprise there, but I was a bit hopeful..) Anyway, there's actually not all that much left to do. I'd say we're about 2/3 of the way done!

Not to disagree but most of the time I think I thought, "C'mon why won't it load! I already knew that hint" but that was just because of my impatience to wait for the game
Wow! I just tested with an adhoc on an iPhone 5 - Load time is 4 seconds! That's pretty amazing. I'm still going to try to optimize it though, pretty sure it would be unusable for anything under a 3GS at this point. - Thomas
I just wanted to ask how this app is different from Beatwave, RollingTones, Pattern Music, or a lot of the other tone matrix sequencing apps already available? I'm not asking condescendingly because it looks cool and props to you for figuring out in GS! I just hope you can find a way to differentiate yourself from them. Keep in mind a lot of these apps allow multiple layers, mixing, effects, sharing a song (for sure GS can't do). I know you mentioned loading times and I'll tell you that it would matter in apps like this because there are others on the market that load almost instantly. You will no doubt be compared to existing apps so I would focus on figuring out why your app is relevant among an already niche market. Cheers.
@floydianspiral - Yes, of course I have looked at the competition extensively. Our main competitor is Beatwave, because it is the most similar. Here are the things that set us apart:
1) Multiple pages (Very important) 2) Better GUI 3) Multiple different sounds on the screen and it won't switch all tiles to one sound when selected 4) Extended notes? 5) Better graphics 6) More layers? 7) Not as in your face with the colors 8) Better save/load (in some ways) and more options 9) Better title page 10) Overall awesomeness B-)
Also, it is just plain easier and more simple, but still allows you to expand to make much longer songs.
These things apply to most of the competition. As for Patternmusic, it's pretty hard for anyone to beat that, especially for free. However, I think that our simplicity, GUI, and abilities ultimately trump it when used for slightly simpler purposes
And yes, the sharing is not possible. This is unfortunate, but our other features will certainly make up for it.
One last thing. I have to say that the name is pretty awesome. "Music Magic"
- Thomas
P.S. Also keep in mind that even if we are not the best, we are different. (Even though we are the best >:))
Two more things I just thought of. First, MM can also go landscape or portrait, while most others cannot. Also, our prices to by things in app will be very competitive. - Thomas
Here's an update on the title screen, it's going to be a really cool loading effect. We have about 50 of these little bits of randomness, hoping to have more than 100 by the time we're done!

EDIT: I got rid of 4-5 unused rules and it's right at 20-22 now every time. (Had gotten up to 30 with some new slider stuff i'd done)
Lump Apps and My Assets
Maybe have a long list of tips/hints/suggestions or something. It'll make the loading less noticeable.

@SnapFireStudios - I wouldnt worry at anything under a 3GS

EDIT: I know that we can edit a splash screen before our app. But can we just remove it if we want? If not... that sucks.
