What art would you like to see in the marketplace

I'm thinking of making some artwork and animation for the marketplace. What do you think people are most in need of, or be most interested to see on there?

I would like some template animations - so you make a blank human character (whole black, or white) with walking, fighting, running, jumping, and other animations. So each user can buy each of these animations, and make his own characters from it.

Themoonwalls I am making few animation packs, should I include the parts of the characters as well , so that you guys can create your own customised animation later on, for that character?

Every character has its own style of animation, just creating a black and white template you will not be able to create different style of animations. For example weight and other characteristics of the creature comes into play as well.

Also suggest what kind of characters will you be willing to buy. Will be posting my animations gif soon.

I am creating mythology characters right now, fantasy style, done in 3d first then converted into 2d in flash. Animations are like moving, walking, attacking, idle jumping etc. I am keeping in mind gs limitations and creating at like 6 fps with just 6 -8 frames, this way only 6 frames can be imported and repeated inside gs to give a smooth animation effect. so in a scene more than one character could be used without much of lags, as each character will not have many frames.

Any one can suggest more genre of characters, that will be appreciated.

Cartoonscott, sorry to hijack your thread. Hopefully we can work together in future on some game.

I am also realising that working alone is not a good option while making games.

That's okay Wickedsunny, I don't know when I will get the chance to do something anyway. Just getting some ideas for when I try something out

How would people prefer the files? A png sprites, or a flash files, so that they can play around with the design and then render out the png cycle.

Marketplace only allows png files, no source files.

Righto, so I couldn't sell a flash fla file then, I suppose I could sell that on other sites. What about tutorials, what would people like to see how to make graphically?
  • cartoonscottcartoonscott Member Posts: 78
Also, is there a specific size they should be rendered to? 32x32 or larger for more detail and the purchaser can size down to suit?

Go for hd for Retina display, they can always scale it down. Tutorials not sure there are plenty already out there.

There's a gap in the market for ill tempered bipedal, endothermic egg-laying, vertebrates, I'm pretty sure if someone made a game about them it would be a hit.

  • cartoonscottcartoonscott Member Posts: 78
Do people make much selling art like this? Are there other sites (isn't Turbosquid just 3D?) where I could also put the files up for sale
  • famekraftsfamekrafts Member, BASIC Posts: 834
envato sites are there, but there you cannot fix a price, they choose price for you. Search online there are many sites.

Do you have to make over $100 before you are paid any profit? Thats what Ive been told
  • famekraftsfamekrafts Member, BASIC Posts: 834
    Ya
  • cartoonscottcartoonscott Member Posts: 78
Do people make much more than $100? I see a lot of diverse art assets and can't imagine them selling in huge volumes
  • famekraftsfamekrafts Member, BASIC Posts: 834
I have just started putting in marketplace, more experienced users will be able to tell you better.
  • cartoonscottcartoonscott Member Posts: 78
I would be interested to know

If anyone has any knight or tiger character animations to sell, I'm interested in those. I would need walking, jumping, and attacking. Preferably in high-res for retina display. I'll pay a fair price for them as well :)

    Hello Deadlight

I actually have a Knight, I made it for a game design proposal for a customer, who loved it until he realised how much a full game would cost

I'll post up a picture in a bit, and if anyone thinks its any good, I'll suggest it for the market in the same way as the characters above

Taidaken: I'll soon find out if Im one of those people
