I think the highscore-behaviour is a must too... i have read so much reviews with all this moaning like ... yes yes super game but without the possibility to save your score i can only give you 4 of 5 stars...sry... blabla...
Well i for myself have downloaded a lot of games and have never used the abillity to save my score globally ... but i think most of the people obviously want this feature... and most of the games have the only goal to jump higher or shoot more enemies what is pretty fast very boring if you can't compare your skill with someone else or proof that you have achieved this super duper highscore...
All I can say is thank you thank you for getting the multi-touch pad available, as for high score save I think it's a must too, but I'm sure you guys will get that released too
IMHO, the price of this system should be a bit COSTLY, otherwise the App store will be flooded by Gamesalad, actually the Games section of app store is already over crowded, making profit is not so easy than before.
Nah, I'm thinking about creating another "I Am Rich" app. 'cept a little pricier. Hopefully a couple moro-consumers will be stup-intellectually challenged enough to buy it
After reading some of the details relating to the GameSalad process, how exactly is Gendai / GameSalad going to be making any money if we take 100% of any earnings?
Quote.... 'Once your game has passed Apple's approval system, your game is now on the App Store. Congratulations! You keep 100% of the royalties for your games. What's better is that as a member of GameSalad, you can publish as many games as you like!' - http://www.gamesalad.com/products/iphone
So that means after Apple takes their required 30%, the authors get 70% - what's left for Gendai & GS? Are they just really, really generous. Seems an awful lot of effort building GameSalad to see no monetary return, or have I missed something?
Maybe Gendai/GS are following the 'crowd sourcing model' attempting to become the defacto standard for iPhone game development making the software and publishing completely free so everyone will use it?
GS will just get the original fee (price to be confirmed) when each developer signs up to the necessary to publish "iPhone Early Access program". Guess it's done this way as it would be a right mess trying to claim x% of people's royalties.
As far as limiting junk like n+1 versions of template games goes, consider that submitting anything to the App Store is a non-trivial process. The required Apple Dev program cost ($99/annum) would deter many people. The provisioning and certification process, however, is a bigger hurdle; someone too lazy (or ignorant) to create an original game would not likely put forth the effort.
hmm it sounds too good to be true. I would hope that they just charge for the software app. I would would be happy to pay for that. Unity3d is $299.00 or more for pro. Gamesalad is my dream app come true, I hope its not ruined with a crazy price structure.
What would be a crazy pricing structure? Personally I think that GS should go for more than Unity or Torque. With those programs you have to spend substantial time learning the languages and substantial time doing menial tasks. I want GS to stay in business for a long time and think that it has much more value than Unity or Torque for the average person. Just my 2 cents. I don't really care what the costs will be. If you create good quality games that people want to play you would more than make up the costs.

Agreed, JGary. A good revenue stream for GS means stability, new features, updates, additional platforms, etc. Good for all of us.
Just wondering if they're opting for a substantial cost for the software, with unlimited app generation, or the "give away the razor, sell the blades" scheme, where the software is free or relatively low cost, and we pay a fee for each app we generate. I'm happy to support them either way, because the value is definitely there.
The best thing is that the software remains free to use.
Unity looks great, and the documentation is awesome. I just didn't want to risk spending cash on it after my month trial period was up, because I wasn't certain that I could actually *make* anything after the short time I had with it.
With GS, you can use the software and it's free. FREE. You can spend as long as you like learning it, making games, and when you're ready, and so inclined, you can pay to get your game(s) converted and take a chance on the app store!
That's good news to me. The only risk is that your games won't sell, and that's not GS's fault, but a symptom of an overcrowded App store.
But better overcrowded than shutting out the little guy! Though *whatever* the final price of GS, expect a bunch of people to moan about it. Human nature an' all that, a behavioural trait I do not share, being a sheep. Naturally.
I would be willing to PAY a good chunk of cash if GS delivers all it says it will as so far it has. The software is great with a lot of future potential. Having a section for users to submit their own behaviors and actions is a dream. I think GS has the potential to even beat Unity3d and torque! But its just what they plan to do with the submission process...PLEASE to screw it up with a crazy cost per app submission or % take on app sales...I dont know what they will do but I do want them to succeed. GS could be huge!!!

I'm happy to pay for this little app, really!

We'll all know soon enough.

Limited features? I can make perfectly good games with the features it has now. And so can others, as seen by the (non-template!) games on the site.
As new features get added (high score, saves) then if my game is on the app store, I can submit an update for the game.
OR, I can just wait till these features are in before I submit to Apple.
You can certainly work with what you've got!
Cheers,
QS

However, try having a few games on the go at the same time. You'll learn something making each one of them, and it'll help you on your main game.
One of them might be fun enough to finish
