    Hey, awesome!

I think I missed something, who's app is it? :-?
    EatingMyHat's game.
I would say it is more like a joint project, the game is Sprite as much as mine.

    Still with Apple...

@Braydon_SFX it's @EatingMyHat 's game - I just stopped him from using 'recycled cutout paper' for the art... and got sucked in to the never-ending demand for more art ;)

My never-ending demands?! Here is an actual and 100% true recording from not so long ago...

SE: So how many surfers should we do?
    ETH: How about 10?
SE: Well we have a list of 12, so lets do 12.

    A few days later...

SE: Almost done with the surfers, I'll send you the first 18 now and the other 6 later
EMH: 18? other 6? how is that sums up to 12?

    A few days later...

EMH: So tell me again how we got from 10 to 30?
SE: Didn't you asked for 30?

@tshirtbooth - your feedback was priceless!

BTW, the game is not out yet because we got rejected... I didn't know that 'Restore IAP' button is mandatory (this was the reason for the rejection). I checked in JetPack and could not find a restore IAP option (the game does have 1 non-consumable item). Maybe it is a new rule?

In any case, a fixed version is in the hands of Apple waiting for review.

No offence @spriteattack I loved the cutout art! It reminded me of the style made famous by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame. It's what I loved best about that game when I judged it. as you know I think you have über talent and I'm sure the art is fantastic.

Yey! I'm with you all the way FryingBacon! I also happen to think that my art is awesome (if not awesomer than awesome), but I had to go with what Sprite did so he will not feel bad about it (I'm into supporting young talent and I really think he have potential as an artist if he will focus in creating a bit more cutout and less cartoony).

In the next few days I'm going to start a step-by-step tutorial thread about creating recycled cutout art! stay tuned! Might even put the original Soggy Surfer art pack in the marketplace.

    :)

    Cheers!

@EatingMyHat - thanks for being so considerate about my feelings... but... recycled paper art is a weak excuse for not being able to do proper art in 95% of the cases... just like all the doodle and stick man games... but hey... that's the artist in me speaking... ;)

I am wondering - why did I not leave it as soggy wet paper art... there must be a reason for that... wait... I think I am getting there... simple... It just looks a lot better and more engaging now!

@SpriteAttack Actually doing it as a doodle or a stick man was the two other options in addition to cutout.

Don't forget to checkout my cutout tutorial thread. ;)

Oh so are you calling Terry Gilliam a weak artist? Um the guy's work is the stuff of legend and he made millions. Man now I need to get with @RP and make a Terry Gilliam style game just to prove you wrong...lol

It's too bad it got rejected.

I recently sent an update In and it got rejected for the same reason. But all my IAP are consumable, so I have no idea why they rejected it haha.

@SpriteAttack - well done with the srt, man. Looks great! Much better than the soppy paper. ;)

@FryingBaconStudios - 95% of the time - he's def. in the 5% where it works... but you can go ahead... show me how it's done... Maybe I can still learn how to make good art... (given up hope a long time ago... old dog/ new tricks scenario... ;) )

Okay so we agree it comes down to execution and not the style. But let's all be real, I'm no Einstein and you're no Michelangelo...LOL ; )

Michelangelo is gone - SpriteAttack is not. ;)

Maybe set that as your signature, Chris.

At the end of the day good art cannot save a bad game and a good game can be fun even with no art. Text adventures where lots of fun, in many cases better than many modern, graphics heavy games. Having a discussion about the style of art is almost like debuting politics or personal taste. I remember that I loved Samurai Jack and its art style, while my friend hated the art in it.

Having said that, I'm looking forward for this one, I likes the old video with the cutout, and I like the graphics on the comics - so its a win win for me.

Wow @stamu, I hope we did not build a BOT like expectations :)

In general I agree, but now days if you go to the App Store what sells the game is your icon and screenshots (all art). Not to say that there are no exceptions (Minecraft anyone?), but I don't think Doodle Jump would had a chance in the App Store if it was released for the first time today (even as a fresh concept).

In any case, I sure hope that people will love the game as much as we loved making it.

It lifts my spirits to see @SpriteAttack back! Great comic strip by the way. Love your art, and your fantastic tutorials, I've learnt so much from them. I'm sure it has been said many times, but you're very talented and have a great style. :)
