Hello World...

Well, I've spent an evening filming, animating in Adobe After Effects, editing in Final Cut and a bit of screen capturing and voila the first of many promo videos for Audio Invaders. I've got a few cool ideas to make a collection of videos as I come very near to the final release of the game.

What do you think?

Glad you all approve of the video.

Hopefully get the game out in the next 2 weeks.

Its like 97% as finished as its going to be.

Think I've decided to submit it without pro features. If it does well I'll upgrade it. Keep changing my mind though . . Very tempted
By pro to add high Score and link to review the game after playing a few times. . Oh and the splash screen obviously too.

Thanks old kipper... and thanks for being my first Beta tester... I took on board your feedback and you may notice that the buildings are now more 8 bit... might make the logo and explosions behind the menu scene also more pixel arty...

Also considering adding the flare as a bonus to light up the sky to make things a bit easier...

Just about to tackle making the proper game icon...a reworking of the one you saw when I sent the adhoc version...but with a bit more pizzazz (thats a work right?)

    Cheers

Icon design idea for Audio Invaders. Created entirely in Photoshop

I may re-make it in Adobe Illustrator so its vector based… trying to create something eye catching…whilst also portraying what the games all about.

    Cheers guys

    Thanks Leonard (jack)

And thank you deadlyseriousmedia glad you like the concept. The idea grew a lot. At one point it wasn't at all visual. But I kept adding to it. . . Hopefully for the better

    @stormystudio
It really does look great! :) How do we donate again to your crowd sourcing thing?? Is it through WEfund??
(Ment to contact you about promo videos man!, Must send you an email shortly! :) )

    Cheers guys... t-shirt, leonard...

T-shirt... yep this is where the 3d tests were destined for...could be useful for future things too.
Leonard the crowd sourcing thing failed to earn its target I'm afraid.... still think its a cool idea... perhaps with a longer date to try and build the thing some more coverage... next game maybe..
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
Yes crowd sourcing is a good way to raise money IMO, I was going to donate but never got around to it... Sorry about that.... Does refund accept Irish euros anyway? TBH (To be honest :P thought I'd try out abbreviating my words) anyway... TBH there not really a lot you can offer as prizes for donating for game design really... I thought your sound Idea was cool! :) Especially because it's "audio invaders", By the way, I've been meaning to contact you about a promo for my new app "gravity bounce" so I'll head on over ti your site and request a quote! :)

cheers Leonard...feel free to email me.. jon@stormystudio.com or use the form on my website...which ever you prefer.

    - I've spent tonight on my game, adding the 5th weapon... a rocket launcher..

    - Also setup a system so as you achieve higher scores more guns are unlocked permanently, so that when you collect the gun drop downs that come at intervals from explosions in the game it will cycle through more and more gun types... so far I have revolver, machine gun, flame thrower, laser canon and now rocket launcher.... I think that'll do for the initial release.

    - Just need to do some testing, and tidy up my options menu a bit..and show which guns have been unlocked and which haven't.

    Cool vid stormystudio!! Great work!
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
Thanks butter. What do you think of the game idea?. . .

Also just got a reply on my toucharcade thread, someone asked if its being released with game centre. I said no. They said they have a rule where they only buy games with game centre. . .

Hmmm. . . Food for thought.
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
I've made the leap to Pro again... Woopeee do.

So expect the launch of Audio Invaders some time soon, with a few little extras.

I've spent tonight adding a GameCentre High Score Leaderboard, and links to my other games...plus put a temporary 'pondering' screen as a splash screen....

Will also work on a free version, which will have iAds, with an in app purchase option to remove them, and unlock the world leader board.

Not sure if it's possible to link a free version of a Game to the same leader board as a paid version...so that when someone pays an inapt purchase they can post their scores to the same leader board or if it will have to be a separate one.... either way hopefully it will work well.

@Tynan Thanks, glad you like the black and white style.

As of tonight...in the last few minutes I'm now done on the game. I've ticked every box I had on my constantly growing list. Fixed all known bugs, added all the new pro features I wanted (links to other games, a 'would you like to review my game' pop up after playing a number of times and a GameCentre Leaderboard).

The are now in game upgrades that are gained by collecting gun upgrade boxes...the more you collect the more guns that are unlocked. Once unlocked they will remain that way for ever.

5 weapons all with unique sound effects...two types of control method...

I'm sure there will be things to fix in an update...but as of now I'm 100% done...and really pleased to have held out till this point. Now I just need to right the app description tomorrow, and create some nice screen shots for the app store... then it's ready for submission to Apple.. Woo!... so nearly there.

Here's a quick video before I hit the hay...showing the working options menu, initial game play before it gets too frantic and a glimpse of the simple setup I've put in for GameCentre..

Yeah, that 3D effect on the buildings while scrolling left and right is incredible. Care to share just a little insight on how you achieved that?
