    @Jack,
My oldest project file is saved in 0.9.82 version, I also have project saved in other versions. But I tried to publish it with all GS versions.
I also tried different settings during publishing - other profiles, options (like Armv7), other screenshots etc.

    I have two games:
The Train episode 01 2.0 (for iPhone) - project file is 369 MB
The Train episode 01 2.0 (for iPad) - project file is 370 MB
They are both made in GS 0.9.82.
I also have different copies of those two files, saved in each newer GS version.

I tried to publish them in every GS version since 0.9.82 (each save in each GS version). Everytime I have this error message (during "Singing app package"):
"The file couldn't be opened because it isn't in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
I didn't have other error messages.
It appears when I try to publish iPhone version as an iPhone game, and iPad version as an iPad game.

    I made also some tests:
    1. I deleted all images from the project (so the size is 90 MB), and try to publish it - SUCCESSFUL.
    2. I deleted some images from the project (so the size is 160 MB) - UNSUCCESSFUL (the same error as before).
    3. I deleted some images from the project (so the size is 140 MB) - SUCCESSFUL.
    4. I tried to publish my previous update for The Train episode 02 (I managed to publish it early November, without any troubles) - the project is above 300 MB - UNSUCCESSFUL (the same error as before).
    5. I tried to publish different game (about 100 MB) with the same provisioning profiles, and setups as are in The Train episode 01 - SUCCESSFUL.

    So:
    1. There are no problems in the project (because I can publish it, if I delete most of the images).
    2. There are no problems with my provisioning profiles (because I managed to publish different game with them).
    3. I don't know if this is important, but all graphics are in the right size, they have right DPI etc.

    Also:
    1. I updated Xcode.
    2. I deleted and redownloaded all certificates and profiles.
    3. I deleted and redownloaded GameSalad.
    4. I turned off firewall in Mac OS X Lion, and in my Router.
    5. I saved project as a new file, turned off GS, and opened this new file, and try to publish.

Here is the full list of what I do while publishing:

    1. Open GS project
    2. Click Publish
    3. Choose iPhone or iPad
    4. Click Create New Game
    5. Choose icon (512x512, 72dpi)
    6. Enter one keyword (usually "a") - I tried typing different things as well
    7. Click Next
    8. Choose Provisioning Profile
    9. Change display name to be shorter
    10. Click Advanced Options
    11. Turn on both Landscape Orientations, as supported - each scene in my game is set to work in both Landscape Orientations
    12. Turn off Enable Glossy App Icon
    13. Click Done
    14. Click Next
    15. Click Next on Video screen
    16. Drag my only (primary screenshot from the project) screenshot - I tried different screenshots as well
    17. Click Next
    18. Scroll down
    19. Click Publish
    20. Click Agree and Upload
    21. Wait

    @TheMoonwalls, well that's very detailed ;)

From what you've wrote, I can't notice any procedural error. As an observation it seems you're having unsuccessful publishing of your app somewhere between >140mb to 160mb. Of course there could be other factors involved, but it seems you only deleted images between the different sizes.

Perhaps start a completely new test project, make it 160mb in size, or any size where you know publishing has been unsuccessful - but with completely different content to your original train episode. If that can't publish it's more likely the size

You've tried just about everything, I can't think of any answer...... But it will be on my brain for the night and I will have a good think about this, for the moment I suggest contacting gs support agin or emailing @saladstraightshooter
    Thanks,
    Jack

Thanks man, but it's not necessary :) This is e-mail I wrote to GS one month ago, after they help me, I was able to publish above 200 MB files.

I forgot to change it :P But thanks! :) I think that they changed server capacity or something. I'm not technical-oriented :)

    Witaj Aniu,

Wow, this is weak - I got e-mail one week ago, that the entire GS team works to fix my issue. And guess what they wrote me yesterday? They asked if I tried to save my project as a different file!!!!!!

First I was contacted by Tori, then by Puck, then by Tori again, and now by Bob. Everyone asked me the same things - do they have any sort of communication in their company? I'm tired of explaining 999 times what's wrong with publishing, and what I tried to do.

I worked 8 months on two new games. I published one without any troubles, and one week later, after release of GS 0.9.83 I can't publish any of those projects.

I'm trying to publish it since November 2011!!!

Exactly im talking with them about the same problem - they answer: save as......
    speachless....

i'm pretty sure it's the huge file getting corrupted in someways during the uploading onto GS publishing server. Like they said, they have no issue compiling the project over at their end , cos the file isn't transferred to the server via internet. So i would suggest maybe to ask the GS to check on their uploading protocol that might have created some issues for transfer of overly large files.

A little update from GS team.

They said that my project is too big, and I will be very lucky if I manage to publish it, and they can't do nothing else for me. I just have to make it smaller.

They should tell us many months ago that we can't make big games with GS.

I'm pretty disappointed, but I just delete some images and sounds.

I also have the same error message, and my game is only 0,67 mb.

Update: I solved my issue based on the suggestions above. After clicking Publish and selecting the plateform, I created a new project. Now it worked.

I'm closing this down since it was an issue with an old version of GS back in January.
