Hello everyone!

Well, the new game is out! It's available for iPhone and iPad, and you can get it here:

You play as the Sun, trying to increase happiness in the world, and banish the sadness of the grumpy clouds!

It's ostensibly a shooter at heart, but I hope people think it's pretty original - I've certainly not played a game before where you play as the Sun, with a smiley face, shooting clouds through history while wearing an assortment of hats!

This has taken about two and a half years to make real - from the initial idea, to umpteen delays, to finding artists, to fitting it around other games - it's taken its time!

I'd like to really thank Orbz and tshirt for help with some of the maths (so long ago I bet they don't remember!) and arandomday and old_kipper for help with the graphics (original art style by my friend Dan).

Thank you guys - couldn't have made this without you!

Also, the testers gave me some wonderful feedback. After so long, you tend to lose sight of little things, and they really helped bring it together - Butterbean, Damien, Kipper, Uptimistik and others - thank you so much!

Anyway, it's done now. It's gone 5am here, and I am completely knackered. Heading to bed in a bit, and then the real work starts in a few hours, trying to promote this little game!

    Well it's 08:33 here in England and you know as well as I do that there is no chance of ANY sun here today, so I fired up my iPad and purchased Sunshine HD... Looks even more stunning on the device! I'll leave a review in a minute ;)

    Listings seem to be a little messed up?

    On my phone > UK store > All Games > Release date ... i had to scroll through the 1st lot of A-Z and it was on the 2nd batch, on the phone thats already pushed down 8 pages!

    This is a really good game!

    I finished it a couple of time on my iPad and it has that really good feeling of wanting to play it again to perfect your shooting skills and get higher scores.

    Tis nice and addicting. I was worried prior to playing that i may get bored of the 4 season thing with the sun going over, thought it may seem slow after a while but i was wrong, timing is perfect, well done. Defo addicting, I'm finishing a world and thinking, 'right back to work, just after i see what my score is'. Go back to menu, 'wait, oh yeh, the sun can wear a hat! Damn, 1 more world then'. haha.

    I did notice 1 thing though ... More Games take you to the iTunes music store, not the app store and obviously errors!

    This is thanks to the new buggy openUrl behavior with the in app browser. Before that when using the link to your games it would automatically redirect to the App Store App, now it opens the in app browser that opens the iTunes App that opens the App Store App.

    Thanks everyone for the very kind words! I hope you're enjoying it!

    I got a few hours sleep, and I'm still not fully awake (on my 4th cup of tea already).

    Woke up to see the game in the top 100 in the UK in Kids and Family. Not many GameCenter players yet (I think I know most of them!).

    That may be true, but with a name like 'Sunshine' I wasn't relying on being seen high up on the listings in the first place! ;)

    Ouch - I had a similar problem with my 3GS - I had a battery problem! Try plugging it in somewhere when playing, that might help :O

    That took a while to get right. About a year and a half to be honest!

    It was a bit slower. I mean, not by much. Seasons took about 10 seconds longer than they do now. And it just felt 'off' so I kept adjusting it to make it a little more exciting.

    Of course, doing that means you have to change the frequency of the clouds appearing, and adjust other things too - so those 10 seconds off actually changed the game quite a bit!

    Also, Seasons also last for different periods (Summer is longer than Winter for example - just like the real world!) so that had to be taken into account too!

    Eek! Crikey! I checked the contracts and they're due to expire next September - there was one that needed a 'request' so I just clicked on that. Hopefully it's fixed things!

    Downloading it now. Just out of curiosity QS... I see the game is 19.3mb. What size was the package you sent to apple?

    When I try to put my adhoc on, it says its about 23mb.. Yikes! But seeing what QS said, I still have hope. :)

    Well there's a LONG story behind that and it's all *very* confusing.

    My GS file for iPhone came in at 24.5MB - due to the Retina graphics apparently, but that made no sense.

    So that's what I got back from the GS publishing thingy - 24.5MB.

    I then zipped it up to send to apple, and it came in at 19.4 MB.

    When I downloaded the game, it actually takes up 24.5MB on the device - but to download it it's actually only 19.3MB

    All very confusing, and horribly stressful at the time. It turned out ok in the end though!

    I'm glad the mb's worked out okay! I can see on the iPhone version that it says 19.3 mb's, so it just came in under the 20mb limit, phew! :) Very strange indeed that it takes up more space, but glad the download is under the limit!

    This is really fun! As always, you pay so much attention to detail and you put so much creativity into those details. Any one of these by themselves wouldn't matter much but taken as a whole it really makes a good idea into a spectacular game. I seem to have trouble taking a good idea and getting more than a good game out of it. I'm always amazed how your able to get so much out of a good simple game idea.
