Have you created a new app in the "Manage Your Applications" section of iTunes Connect? That app needs to be "Waiting For Upload" before you can use the application loader.

have u tried zipping the app?
  • RocketBrainRocketBrain Member, PRO Posts: 269
told me the app name had already been used....although a moment ago when i tried it didnt give me that error....searched itunes and theres no releases under that name so...

Also don't you need to make sure you .zip (compress) up the file? I just submitted an updated up the other day (the first time I used the app loader) and found that is what I needed to do.

By the way I submitted my update on Oct. 4th and it is still waiting for review. It is taking a lot longer then I expected or have experienced in the past.

    yup file is compressed.

i'm guessing that because i failed partway it assumes i already submitted it? they dont exactly make this easy lol.

No offense, but you're not being very clear here...

Are you saying that you tried to create a new app in iTunes Connect and you stopped when it told you the name was already in use? When you tried again, did you get to the point where that new app is "Waiting for Upload"? If not, you will not be able to upload anything...

i'm at the screen in iTunes Connect where it says

    App Information

    Enter the following in English

    App Name
    SKU Number
    Bundle ID

having answered that and hitting the little question mark in the bottom corner it immediately says the app name has already been used (didnt say that the first time i dont think, but the apple store says there is no app by that name)

my guess is in order to fix this i'm gonna have to change my app name....which means i have to go back and redo all my graphics.....sigh

STOP! (before editing anything, read below)

You don't have to change your graphics! Depending on your desired app name, just add a "!" to the end, or a TM symbol, or something that makes it slightly different than what is already reserved. Just because some dev somewhere has that name reserved doesn't mean that it will ever show up in the app store. Also, it is very difficult to get a trademark on generic names that are commonly used for apps, so don't worry about that, unless your like trying to name your app "the Google app" or something obvious...

So this is the 2nd time you've tried to create an app with this name? If that's the case, then the reason it won't let you use it again is because it's already reserved (by you). If you entered the name and then quit out halfway through then you're out of luck, but if you finished the process then it should be in "Manage Your Applications".

didnt mean to quit out ;) i hit the back button to try to figure out why it was failing.

like i said, this is slightly difficult.

ok so can somebody lay it out on exactly how to make this work?

Heres what i've done so far:
made my 512x512 and 57x57 icon
    i have several screenshots
I have "published" from gamesalad & compressed to zip
i have established the profile for submission

i think thats all i have for now (probly more but cant remember atm)

ok making some progress but in xcode it keeps telling me "base sdk missing"
  • WarlockWarlock Member Posts: 66
I had the same "base sdk missing message". I downloaded the previous sdk (trust me I understand how frustrated you are. I smashed a coffee mug against the wall) and moved the newer sdk to another hard drive. Then I was able to use the older sdk to work.

I have no idea, at all, why this has to be so difficult. Now I'm having problems even installing my own app on my iPad. It's a wonder I don't drink.

ok so heres what you do for the base sdk missing error you go to Project > Edit Project Settings > General tab > Set Base SDK for All Configurations. set it to one of the the sdks downloaded

    hope i help

You should not be using Xcode at all.

You need to log into iTunes Connect and set up the new app for submission. Once all that is set up, you upload your zipped app with Application Loader.

Just a quick note... Make sure your 2 icons match...
  • RocketBrainRocketBrain Member, PRO Posts: 269
yeah got that part. went back. redrew the 512x and just shrunk it to fit the 57x rather than trying the other way and sharpening (looks horrible that way)

  • RocketBrainRocketBrain Member, PRO Posts: 269
man oh man i am totally unprepared for this....i need a "Submitting Apps for Dummies" guide.

could use a list of things i need. and what order to do things in. all ive found is stuff for actually submitting the app.

nothing about seller contracts, legal entities....
  • goliathgoliath Member Posts: 1,440
Submitting your first app is harder than making your first game! I went through it too buddy hang in there!
  • RocketBrainRocketBrain Member, PRO Posts: 269
this is an absolute nightmare. thanks for the support guys....getting so frustrated i'm on the verge of giving up (not really but thats how i'm feeling right now)
  • RocketBrainRocketBrain Member, PRO Posts: 269
two new errors, got the app submission in and i'm to where i actually use the application loader (only 5 hours or so of figuring it out)

Bundle identifier: com.yourcompanyname.appname differs from reserved bundle identifier: com.rabid-weasel.webs.*(hiding game name for now)
(is that because of how i published directly from gamesalad? or my crappy website link atm.

    second error:

Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate.

i have the same error ? any one can help us in this issue ?
  • JelJel Member Posts: 319
    Hi RabidWeasel,

I haven't read all the posts in this thread but I take it you've registered your app in iTunes Connect/Manage Your Applications ? If you then click on your app icon in iTunes Connect/Manage Your Applications the next screen will tell you your "Bundle ID". This is what you need to put in under "Advanced Mode" when you publish with GS and make sure you select your Developer licence in GS Code Signing when publishing.

ok so that fixed the first issue, any ideas on this one?
