@Basseman... Took me a while...but the clues are there. Once I figured out the connection between the colors and the clue in the study...I was like..."DUH!!!"
Don't forget the audio! I mean, just play it silent and you lose quite a bit of atmosphere and feel. Small things like feedback to actions are all done so well!
Since several of you have completed the game, I can only assume that you did not encounter the "black screen" mystery bug.
These types of bugs are sooooo frustrating!
It only ever happens to other people playing the game - never to me. So I can only assume that it is something I wouldn't do, like trying every key on every door, or something to do with the globe puzzle or the safe combination. Things that I've memorized.
But my main tester still encounters the bug once and a while as well.
Of course it happens towards the end of the game. So it becomes less and less fun to test for each time!
@basseman: sorry that you are having trouble! Just email me and I will try to help you out with the game.
I was starting to lean towards it being a glitch in the plugin/GS Viewer. However, that doesn't give a lot of confidence when uploading it to the App Store...
FMG -- black screen happened both times I tried to play -- open the front door, screen goes black and stays black.
OK, just reinstalled GS plugin and was able to get past front door. Really think it is a Safari/plugin glitch (the plugin is pretty unstable). Maybe because am not using latest Safari but don't think this should matter. Anyway, maybe one less issue for you.
@A3MG: No, I don't have any issues with adhoc build. I actually don't have any issues ever - not with the web version that I just put up, not with GS itself, and not even with the GS Viewer on any of my devices.
So I am trying to fix something that is not broken for me. Very tricky!
@everybody: thanks for all the support! Hopefully I will get this issue fixed soon and can resubmit the binary.
@eaguirre: thanks! I went to art school and studied illustration and animation. I don't have too much advice for you regarding artwork, other than to practice! As far as the programming goes, I am just using the same behaviors in GameSalad that everyone has access to....If there is anything you need help with, I'd be happy to explain what I did*.
Congrats to Joe - what a wonderful showcase of just how far we can push GameSalad.
I managed to get all the way to the safe, but for some reason although I had the combo and followed the correct dial turns I could not open it! When I gave up and left the room I too just got a black screen?
Firemaple, why are you wasting your time with developing games when you instead could write tutorials for us?! :-P I really think "The Secret of Grisly Manor" is an awesome game, it totally reminds me of "Return to Zork", which I loved to play on my Performa 5300 in the 90s. I think this game is really comfortable to play, and 2D really seems to do the job for this kind of game. I hope this game will be available soon. If you get the marketing right, it could be a success. All the best!
Is it ok to hate you just a little bit. I hope it sells, now where are all my scott adams adventures, I think Pirates cover is a great idea. Ok I am gonna go do it.

Great stuff FMG!
I played it for an hour or so, and really enjoyed it.
As an artist, I can really appreciate the work youve put into it, to get all the scenes so detailed, polished and of a consistent feel.
but arrrrrrrrrgh I am uber stuck now
Finished now
but look in the study...and the kitchen....and then have a go with the colours.

I'm assuming you have not unlocked the study yet then )
Maybe it's a Safari/plugin thing.
[EDIT]
Downloaded the raw file and playing in GS -- working fine here.
@Andreib21: Yeah, sorry about that!

It reflects that you have been in the game development for a while
Is there any suggestions to help us to get to that level?
Cheers,
Emilio
Do you get the same issues with the builds on the device?
A very nice game.

Good luck with it!
