GameSalad Game Highlights (2016)
Hello,
As the year come to a close, its important to look back at all the creations made. There were so many games that not all could be listed. Links have been included for all games. Below is some of biggest highlights of 2016 (Unofficial list).
- Game of the Year
From the initial tease in June 2014, Turtle Role was the most followed game from the Community. The game has won several awards and featured several times on the Apple Appstore. Developer @kirafu has really highlighted the highs and lows of being a full time developer and just how powerful GameSalad can be.
Games of the Months
Nearly each month, a panel of community members dedicated their time to vote on a submitted games for the most creative, innovative or fun game. The winner would be crowned winner of that month. The following is a list of the months that were awarded. Congrats to all winners. Amazing wide variety of games.(February) Game of the Month
Creepy - by @BigDave(March) Game of the Month
Crazy Comets - by @Sanxion Digital Ltd(April) Game of the Month
Unia - by @mertti(May) Game of the Month

Developer Highlight
In any community, there are always a few select developers who always seem to make amazing games. Sometimes this games go un-notice. This section is some of the favourite GameSalad developers of 2016 in no particular order. The creator of Machine Gun Hero, came out with some cool games this year. Known for his unique style and care to details and originality, 2016 was filled with solid releases. Its always an joy to find out about new releases. These included Blastemvania, Pocket Cowboy and Battery Licker.
If there is any a developer who is keen to tackle GameSalad's logic, its this developer. Attracting the community's attention with a strategy/aracade game Color Hexes a few months ago. However, 2016 also saw the release of Blindway. Keep an eye out for upcoming releases, some very cool ideas are in the works.
Featured by Apple numerous times this year, looking at the line up of games, its not hard to see why. The year started with the release of Minimal Maze, a beautiful minimalistic game. Followed up with 20 Seconds - A word Game. If looking for inspiration, this one developer to follow.
Carter is always releasing high quality puzzle games, and 2016 was no different with one big Line up. Ricochet Theory 2, Master Run, Bottle Flip, Drop Theory and Super Ricochet. Keep up the great work and look forward to your return.
Dave has been a rising star that put his name on the map with Three Points. This year, not only did he create new games, he also shared his experiences, his stats and lessons, so the community could learn with him. This year was definitely the year of updates for his games. These include: Creepy, Pixel Mage and Finger Dungeon.

Thanks for posting!!!!!
Awesome post @Two.E a great time to look at what's been done this last year.
If I may add a shout out to @owen_dennis who made: Vectradius
I believe it was featured on the US store and got a Touch Arcade write up.

Great post and thanks for the mention. Gamesalad needs a showreel video of all its awesome games like any other game engine, so more people can see what its capable of when they search for the right engine. But permission should be taken from developers to do that which will take time.
Sometimes it's good to just look at what can be achieved with the software. Shout away if there are others that should be included. Thats the point, highlighting games/developers everyone thought stood out or caught your eye. Its been a good year for many.
For example: @AppTaco launched a successful Kickstarter for Beware Square
@Two.E Ground breaking Game King and the Dead changed our perspective on what being humble even means.
and finally, @Riffel entered in to the pinball frenzy. Highlighting that once you find something you like, make several amazing games of it.
Its often easy to over look that talent this community has.

Great to see some of the best that GameSalad is capable of!
Thanks for the mentions also!
Thanks for the mention @Two.E, it's really encouraging for me as a game dev beginner
@Two.E Awesome set of mentions!
@RossmanBrothersGames Vectradius is definitely a great addition.
I was thinking of letting the community vote on which game should be our 2016 game of the year. What are your guys' thoughts?
Something along the lines of having a period of time to nominate games, and then near the end of the month I could open a poll with all the options / voting could commence to determine the winner.
@ForumNinja
If I could ever push for one simple thing from GameSalad, it would be to send out (once a month) some of that month's games in an email to your emailing list. A short write up on which games were featured by Apple etc, or that simple play well.
I don't use Buildbox, but I sure do like reading whats being made and the success of their games every now and then.
The state of GameSalad post also seems to mention that developers are good for showcasing what can be done and encourages creativity among students. For 10-20mins a month, it would greatly benefit a lot of entities.
(Unless this is already happening and I don't know about it).

Don't be polite GS. Brag about the awesome games. Successes. Features. It should be plastered everywhere.
The gamesalad.com should hit you in the face. Our games get featured. You have to dig A little for that info.
I think "58 featured games and counting" on the developer side of GS.com. A great hook to get people to stick around and look at the engine.
I think your length of business as well. "Serving developers for 7 years." Your not a fly by night company.
Showing other Devs success inspires everyone to make better games.
Why polite and shy?
"Roll Turtle". Bam in your face. Yeah you heard what I said eh! Kick your unity butt.
Good day eh!
@ForumNinja
To be honest i liked that this post was about a bunch of very good games and was NO COMPETITION.
There is already a game of the month (competition)
This one is highlighting the creativity and quality of a community rather than one/two individuals.
Maybe its just the upcoming christmas feelings..

Great post @Two.E.
Sounds like a great idea! But anyone should be able to nominate any GS game so it's not limited to the people who see the thread! If necessary, I'm sure GS can confirm if a game is made with GS or not.

I agree with @Toque, GS needs to be louder and proudly showcase what users have created.
It inspires and motivates.
Like @BigDave says, it doesn't need to be a competition, just a regular showcase.

I second that.
Competition invigorates competitors, we need to inspires others and show them all that IS possible with GS
A competition is ok but weaker at generating awareness and excitement for others than a showcase focusing on a bunch of games hence a bunch of possibilities.
Moreover. a competition with low level prizes can make the company appear a bit weak, not necessarily the best PR move for the fragile developer side of GS
Incredible 2016 wrap up. We need more posts like this.
Thank you!
