Is an "Ad" scene needed when changing scene?

Hello, I have an Ad Counter to determine when to send players to an AdMob advertisement. When my rule/function deploys this, do I set it up to go to the after-intended scene, or do I need to deploy to a "Ad" scene that jumps back to the game after the ad? Any detailed explanation would be nice.

For Reward and Interstitial ads, they appear between scenes, so they happen naturally when you call a scene transition.
