Hi all,

My first iPad app, LaSiDo Module 1, will be sent to apple tomorrow for review. This is the first in a series of music teaching apps in English and French for iPad. This first module contains detailed explainations on music reading in the treble and bass clefs as well as variable difficulty practice drills and a challenging music reading game with high score tracking. It took me about 1 month to write (including the translation to French). I am planning to sell it for $1.99. I hope apple doesn't turn it down! I followed all the steps (no representation of Apple trademarks, all my own art, all my own music & sfx).

I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks for your support!

LaSiDo - Module 1 is now in review. How long could this take?

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. It's not IN REVIEW but WAITING FOR REVIEW. I assume that makes quite a difference :(
If anyone wants to see some screenshots of LaSiDo - Module 1, here's the link: http://www.mtcmusic.ca/index_9.htm

I plan to put up some promo codes for GameSalad members since I certainly wouldn't have been able to do this without the info I got from fellow users (especially tshirtbooth).
How many codes should I create?

If you submit it yesterday, its going to take about 11 more days.

About 5-10 codes to post is alright.

touchecream : Merci pour ton encouragement !

artonskyblue: Thanks for the info! I was told that I should update the release date every day up until the day Apple releases it but I can't get to the release date from any of the edit tabs in iTunes connect. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Tom

@mtcmusic, go to itunesconnect, manage applications, click your app, and then click rights and pricing. There you can edit you apps availability date. But if i were you I wouldn't change it everyday. I would just set the date for a month later or something like that. Then when apple accepts your app you can change your apps date to whenever you want it to hit the store :)

REJECTED! My fault, of course. First reason was my 512 px icon didn't match my 72 px icon. I thought the 512 had to be more detailed so I added text and a game summary to it but that was a mistake. So, I have used the same simple icon that I use for the 72 px for the 512 px (but created in 512, of course).

Second error was with the autorotation. I had my first version locked to landscape left but they want it to use autorotation, even if the app is only landscape. It still has to detect and autorotate to a vertical flip. This gave me a little trouble since i have a game module in my app that uses the accelerometer. I worked around this problem by an individual copy of each scene of the game modules for landscape left and landscape right and applying a rule in the menu selector going to the game to detect the orientation of the iPad and jump to the scene for that orientation. It took me about 3 hours the modify all this and to test the changes but I was able to resubmit a new version my late last night.

Will Apple take another week to review my modified app? Will they find any other things wrong that weren't mentioned in the last review? I would expect that in the last review, they went through the whole app and listed ALL the problems that they found and didn't just stop reviewing once they encountered a problem.

Anyhow, I hope that this info may help fellow newbies like me avoid the same mistakes :)
