Should I have been paying tax? (UK)

I've been developing apps as a side thing on top of my normal job. However I've not been declaring the tax as income. There hasn't been much in the way of income but over the last year or two it probably amounts up to something HMRC would want a slice of. Apple says something about tax but I think that might be about VAT not income tax. I've been looking at this income tax calculator to try figure out what I should've paid but not sure because of a job change last year putting my income in the next tax band. Not sure whether to own up or just lay low, I'm already paying thousands in tax every year. What would you do?

If you're in doubt, give HMRC a ring and see what they say. It likely is taxable income.
