We've been getting reports of Google reaching out to users who have apps on Google Play without privacy policies. This update removes one of the permissions we request access to in order to prevent you guys from having to create privacy policies for your apps.
Release notes:
- Request for READ_PHONE_STATE has been removed for Android apps
Note: If you are on Mac OS X Sierra, you can grab the update from here: http://gamesalad.com/download/releases
Tan is currently looking into updating the Tizen SDK, and there should be a backend update soon. I'll update this post when that's out.
Edit: The Tizen SDK has been updated to 2.4, hopefully that helps you guys publish to Tizen so you can potentially take advantage of their promotion.
Comments
Is that the only one that makes the app needs privacy policies? or are there more permissions that can and should be removed

@freneticz That's the one I've seen that's caused people to be contacted. If anyone gets contacted about a different permission request, feel free to contact us and we'll look into it
Is there a reason why Sierra users have to goto the home page to download? Im only asking as I will take possession of my new Machine on Monday pre installed with Sierra so I'm just checking to see if Im going to experience any issues making the transition of running Creator from El Capitan to Sierra?
It seems that the Sparkle update fails to decompress the download successfully on Sierra and the update fails.
Downloading the newest version from the website and dropping it in you Application folder (overwriting the old version) should have the same effect as a successful update.
@ForumNinja That said, I haven't seen this Sparkle in other apps, if I remember correctly. Is this something that is fixable -- is there a plan to do so?
@gingagaming we haven't updated the updater to the latest version yet. There are some bugs with the updater and Sierra. The tool works fine (I think there are a few intermittent bugs, but nothing major).
+oh tizen!

Great news on Tizen!
This is great, and I know you are working really hard to keep things running.
After all these years will we ever get behaviours to access the camera, Photos, the mic or user sound files?
Every update I look, hope and ... find myself disappointed yet again.
Rant over. Great way to allow me to write iOS stuff. Trying to do it another way but still hoping for GS.
I can't imagine it'll ever happen now.
Yeah, I guess you're correct.
Shame. GS uses the only way I've found of getting apps done that makes sense to me without getting a headache.
Awesome news TY for the Tizen update.

still no fix for the crooked splash screen? c'mon its the first thing you see when you open a game first impression counts.
I know right. Its difficult enough to deal with long loading times but the crooked splash screen just makes it even worse and looks broken!
Personally I hate the iOS viewer orientation issues, they stop you being able to usefully test certain projects using the viewer, there really are a few crucial issues GS should really have sorted out for paying customers before abandoning the software in favour of the education push.
tizen rejected the orcs version for good reasons
Seems the tizen builds are really unstable.
they even sent a video of the issues so their review team is top.
But the build plays super stutters + crashes
works without problems on iOS and some android devices

@BigDav the tizen build is basically an HTML5 engine build, so any problems you'd find in the HTML5 engine would show up there.
@adent42 no comment regarding the crooked splash screen?
@ForumNinja
Is the "Request for READ_PHONE_STATE" fix available on the PC version of GS?
@adent42
well none of my games work in the html5 version so..
i guess i stick to iOS and android

So is there a definitive list of what is/isn't supported in html5 versions of our games?
It seems like several people have reported that boolean attributes do not work with HTML5 (explains a lot if you ask me), but people have had success replacing them with integers....
this is exactly what theyr doing now , fixing the html5 engine to match the gamesalad preview .. then we will be able to publish html5 and tizen with no worries
It's a change on the publishing side, so it's applied to both PC and Mac.
Looks like a 'no'.
looks like.
Let's see if this works . . .
