Cheers, it's just a basic walk cycle rendered from every 2°, it then moves to where you click, you can thrown something like that together pretty quickly, it's not complex.

Nice @Socks , how to make the tire trails so nice
Cheers freneticz, it's simply particles, just a bunch of particles spawning, but they have no velocity, so they stay where they are spawned, the only other thing is that their colour is changing from pink to purple (and the purple is set to alpha=0, so they fade out as they turn purple), that's really all there is to it, nothing complicated.

Super impressive and so smooth! Quite inspiring
Actually it's a lot smoother than the QuickTime movie shows, there's a few little glitches in there, having GameSalad preview a project while Quicktime is recording video and audio always produces a few little stutters and glitches for me, but obviously when you aren't asking your computer to record high resolution video at 60fps at the same time as having GameSalad do its 60fps stuff as well - then everything works fine !!
Funny enough I started a game just like this, a side scrolling thing, a character fleeing a city in the aftermath of an alien invasion, but he was running rather than driving.
Yeah, my test device is an iPad3, Apple's first Retina iPad and suprisingly the iPad3 is actually fractionally less powerful than an iPad2, and an iPad2 is not that much more powerful than an iPad1 (and the iPad1/2 would be using the lower resolution RI assets) . . . it wasn't until the iPad4 that the power of iPads really started to lift off (the 4 is much more powerful than the 2/3) - everything runs at 60fps just fine even on these older devices.
In fact there is really very little going on in the scene, in the example movie I have just a few actors in the scene, for example the all black and white posts in the scene are a single 32x128 png like this . . . .
. . . this is then replicated upwards (using Replicate) to form the post, and then that post is replicated sideways to create a row of posts, so not only are the art assets pretty small but even seemingly involved set-ups are often made up from only 1 or 2 actors.
So basically, there's not really a lot going on from the processor's perspective.
