when i make changes to my 2nd scene it is affecting my original 1st scene

Hello GS, trying to make a multi level game. i copied and pasted my 1st scene and renamed it as my 2nd scene. when i go to make changes to the 2nd scene it is also changing my 1st scene. i don't want that to happen. how are they linked and how can i unlink them?
