My soundtrack. Tell me what you think

Hey guys,

I have finally gotten to making a soundtrack for my game and was wondering how others would like it.

    It's dark ! Very dark !! :smile:

    It's hard to comment without really knowing what you are going for, if you were intending to do a country and western ballad, you've failed :smile: , but if you were going for a minimalist sort of dark Trap thing then I quite like it, very minimal, very dark !!

    Personally on these kinds of dark minimal tracks I'd stick a lot more subtle atmospheric incidental sounds to break up the repetition.

    Also this stuff is all about frequencies, a lot of these frequencies here simply aren't going to translate to mobile devices, you've got a bunch of energy around 50Hz which will simply disappear on - for example - an iPhone, in fact your bass end goes as low as 30Hz, even with on a pair of £2k studio monitors you're going to struggle to hear that, when mixing for mobile I generally roll off everything under 200Hz (!) because you won't hear it and it's simply robbing your dynamic range and preventing you from getting the track nice and loud / punchy.

    I'd also stick a lot more attack (and 5kHz) on your downbeat and push the stereo image out and stick a fairly heavy limiter over the whole track . . . ok, this is getting too technical, I'm going just going to a quick remix instead, lol, back in 10 minutes . . .

    I guess I failed at the cowboy theme then :) Yes I was going for a dark trap sound and it wasn't really designed for a phone and it sounds best with headphones. But thanks for telling me that useful info. I am glad you liked it. And I have a lot to learn with the sound tool I am using.

    Reminds me of a drunken night I had in an East Berlin club circa 1992! And that's a good thing ;)

    @Socks nice work but you kind of took away that retro feeling it originally had

    @jdlcrater
    I like the original

    0:19
    I would start quicker with the jingle on top as we just listend to a bunch of base beats before "not again..start the melody"

    After the 4th repetition would jump to 0:26 like the memorable loop

    Also LET THE GOOD damn melody STAY for it ITSELF, the vibro effect at the end of each melody loop blurs the cleanness, makes it less likely to be memorized

    Be proud of the small jingle that plays on the base and do not add the "small extras" they make it less authentic and blur it more

    Hey guys. Thanks for your info. @Socks I liked the demo and I have added "reverb" (I think) to the track :) @BigDave I made it start a little quicker and got rid of the blurring
