MAJOR ISSUE WITH APP STORE

AfterBurnettAfterBurnett Member Posts: 3,474
Okay, so I selected ARM7 only and yet Apple have released Max Vector for all iDevices. It will NOT run on anything less than a 3GS properly... this is going to open me up for a whole heap of negative reviews... what's the point of having the ARM7 only option if it doesn't do anything?!?!?!?!

I just checked iTunes Connect and it says "requires ARM7" and yet I managed to install it on my 2G iPod....

What should I do?

Yup, I did both. It says "ARM7 required" in iTunes Connect... maybe it let me install it as I initially bought it with my 3rd gen iPod Touch? I'd hate to think that people are paying for an unplayable game, though.

A LOT! It's unplayable in parts.

I HAVE checked both boxes... it's showing in iTunes connect. I just need to find someone to try buy it with an older device. LOL.

Okay, a mate just bought it with his 3G... the App Store let him buy it but it won't run on his device. WTF?!?!?! Shouldn't it state that it's 3GS only? This is really going to piss people off!

Okay, my friend reset his device and it DOES run on a 3G but VERY badly... I can't believe Apple let this happen!

Many people have reported expedited service when they inquired about review delays. You should try to contact them immediately and maybe they will sort it out.

    Best of luck.

I've sent them a couple of urgent messages and updated the App Store blurb (which hasn't appeared yet). I hope I got to it early enough!

Well I did an update to iSUB that went live on monday.

My sales reports for last 2 days have gone crazy, and dont make any sense. Says Im getting pretty good download numbers in a whole heap of countries, but theyre all saying that the royalty and customer price are zero. The app is meant to be priced at 99c.

I checked, and it says 99c on iTunes appstore.... so Im confused as to whats going on.

Im even more confused though, as its not showing up on either paid or free charts, and the numbers for the past 2 days are similar to when i tested it at free for a couple of days at the beginning of the month, and they got me into the top 200 free games.

Ive contacted Apple to find out what the situation is..... but am I being a bit thick or something... does Apple automatically set updates to apps as free for a couple of days?

I hope this does not happen with the Tigerfish. Also picked ARM7 for my game, it has many graphics and a big scenario. Tell me when you solve your problem.

Just make sure you state in the description that it's ARM7. Someone on TouchArcade said there's no way to limit sales to specific devices, so why did Gendai add in ARM7 only?!?!?! It does nothing!

YAY! Description updated... now if anyone complains, they will feel a bit silly.

Ouch that is BAD.. Hopefully we can get some sort of update from Gendai or Apple to you about this soon.

Good luck with sales nonetheless :)

It will say avaialable on all iDevices no matter what. If someone on an older piece of kit tried to download it, they would get a message saying they cant. If however they download it on their desktops it wouldnt have a problem, just when they tried to install it. So therefore, check they armv7 box and add to the description that it wont play on anything below 3GS and 3rd Gen touch.
    I think the way Aplle looks at it is this;

Would it play on an iPod? Answer - Yes, 3rd Gen
Would it play on an iPhone? Answer - Yes, 3GS and above.
Would it play on an iPad? Answer - Yes

Therefore, your game is compatible with all devices.

Just make sure ther blurb covers this and people cant complain.

    Cheers

Yeah but it DID let my mate download it on his 3G...

I have updated the description in BIIIIG letters so should be A OK. I think I caught it in time...

Good job. see my recent game 'Buzz Buzz Bang' had started off submitted with what i thought had the armv7 enabled, released it fine, there was no way it should of been able to run on older devices with out crashing so assumed everything worked well. Now, i release an updqate, check the box again when publishing, now someone has edited a review saying they can no longer play it on their ipod so im assuming it must now be enabled and it wasnt the 1st time! I would of thought it would of crashed the touch though when testing ... weird!

You need to add the information into the info.plist under "Required Device capabilities" in xcode
then it should work. When you submit your application to itunes you also need to check a box stating specific hardware required.

I think that is how to block different devices but you need the source code which GS does not give us :(

A lot of iPhone users have no clue what model phone they have, so the description may not work for all users and you will get bad reviews.

Interesting... Perhaps an update is in order.

Is there any way to test for the slowness without an actual older device, btw?
