Leaderboards - what is your default: "on" or "off"?

Hello -

Simple question of the day. Does you game have leaderboards? If so, do you load them automatically (default) or do you give the user the option to go in (or activate)? Why or why not?

Thanks, regards.

I auto login at first scene...then I update score by use of some kind of method when a score is changed...every time or as soon as "Game Over" is true. I do however let them choose via a button to view leaderboards.

Thanks much, @Thunder_Child . That sounds like the best approach to handle it, politely operating in the background until invoked.

Another question - if I scored 1000 points on my last game and that was posted to the leaderboard, if I now scored 800 it shouldn't post, correct? Or do I have to write a rule to post only if current score exceeds high score?

I personally do a "current score" as most my games have a variable score...as in slots you can lose money so you may lose your #1 spot one day and gain it back the next should you jackpot. But for like a distance runner I would not be updating the score at "game over" but the "high score". Like a pac man game....leaderboards would show who has the best score over all.
