How to deactivate button

Hi! I made everything by tutorial from
And I cannot understand some things.

At 1st, I don't understand how to deactivate button PLAY.
I click in area of PLAY button, while the settings menu is opened and it's changing the scene. So the question is: how to deactivate PLAY button, while the settings menu is opened?

2nd, I want to play a sound when I click on SETTINGS button, but when settings screen slides over, and I click in area of SETTINGS BUTTON it also have a sound. So the question is: how to hide the (SETTINGS button=sound button)?
