I'm just wondering if Gamesalad will soon start supporting app making for the apple watch!

We do not have any plans on supporting the Apple watch at this time.

Shame @BlackCloakGS you guys have been brilliant at this kind of thing in the past :(

I read somewhere that down the road Apple will be opening up the gates for native apps. Maybe we can support it then @BlackCloakGS

    Pulled this off CNET.com

"Tech research firm Gartner expects 40 million smartwatches will be sold this year."

"Forrester Research predicts that as many as 10 million Apple Watches will be sold this year after its surveys showed that 40 percent of adults in the US are tired of pulling their phones from their pockets. "

"Other analysts have made higher projections, such as Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty estimating that Apple will sell 30 million watches in 2015."

Seems like Apple and other tech researchers are expecting a huge turnout and market for their Apple Watch...!
However, I can't really see myself playing a game on a screen the size of a marshmallow. Although, Giga Pets were popular back in the 90's and those things were little :p !!

That's sad because many of the games created in GameSalad would work great on the watch.

Apple watch does not support OpenGL views which is used by GameSalad to display you game.

Maybe we don't want to display the game on the watch but want to control the game from the watch. Maybe it's not a game at all. It could be just notifications from the game.

but GS uses OpenGL to display everything within a scene, which the watch does not currently support, right now from what I understand they are just incompatible with one another.

Xcode and Swift. It's really not that scary. By the time there is an update, or someone else posts this question, you could already have learned a good portion of it. If you are serious about profiting from Apple Watch, you had better jump into it now and not wait for a GDK to try to add support for it.

With the native SDK announced yesterday, have you had a chance to see if they support OpenGL views now?

They are not likely to. OpenGL is a huge process and battery drain, which on a watch is lethal. And since Apple has an efficient alternative in Metal, why bother anyway?

What About Graphene SDK...it Supports Apple Watch ?

Go to UDEMY. There are 3 or 4 guys that show you how to make 20-30 apps for apple watch. This will give you a idea of how the watch communicates with the phone. Whats passing back and forth.

    Scoreboards, trivia,Quotes, etc etc.

yea i bought a class on there a few months ago. I'm really curious in how the native apps will function, no phone necessary!

I looked at the watchOS sdk yesterday and no support for OpenGL

If all you want to use the watch for is displaying scores, leaderboards, notifications, etc, it should be pretty straightforward to code a module/plugin for Graphene SDK when it's available. From what I've read, Graphene will support native code plugins, which should allow you, or someone else on the upcoming marketplace, to add a simple watch extension to your game!

I think it would be a waste of time going for supports on the watch. Much more could come to Gamesalad instead. I don't know anyone with an Apple Watch. Everyone I know has either an iPad or iPhone. I just don't see gaming a thing on a tiny, expensive unit.

@HonestGameSalad personally I don't know anyone who owns the iWatch but I've seen a couple people with them on. I think its a waste of money because why look at photos on a 1 inch screen when you have a 5 inch plus screen. But apple has taken over the tech market and anything with "i" anything "apple" anything will be the next big thing. They're even coming out with an iPad Pro which will have massive screen ... so as soon as that game is released I have to make updates ..

The good thing with apple watch is that there not to many apps on the market so you'll have a better chance of your apps getting tons of downloads because its not over crowed. Same thing with doodle jump and angry birds ... those games came out way before apps were a normal thing and they blew up
