Monthly for Pro Version...suggestion

dingosmoovdingosmoov Member Posts: 130
Can i pay monthly for pro version? Like a $100 a month subscription? Just offering this as a suggestion as some people do not have $2000 up front to pay for a pro version.

If they don't pay their monthly it expires, and turns into the non-pro version.

A defaulted pro membership could be good as an express membership for 11 months after the last "pro" payment.

    I actually like this idea!

yes a great suggestion...and I think they would do well on the revenue side as well. John

Great idea! I don't know if they'd go for that, though. For instance, whats to stop you from just becoming pro in the month that you'll need to submit the game?

One of the best ideas I've seen in this forum!

It will certainly help those who need the resources of the pro version (like me, for example...) and don't penalize those who have already paid for it.

    @Eastbound,

That's the point. There may be 4 months in a year that I need to submit a game. $400 is a lot more than the $99 of mine they have now.

@Eastbound - that's a great point. Another option would be to make the subscription every quarter for $300. It would minimize abuse of the subscription model. Either way it would be additional revenue since the people who would buy into that model, may never $2k all at once.

Also if it's set at quarterly intervals, and all expire on the same date would be easy to manage.

Anyways, just throwing the thought out there. In the other thread it has been suggested that people who do not have $2k are not serious. That simply is a load of crap. Some people just don't have the funds. Especially in today's economic climate.

Again I'm not suggesting this to insult Gendai, I just want to put it out there.

so Gendai, is something like I suggest here possible?

What happens if houseboat not to renew the monthly subscription? Do your games go back to the gs logo as the splash screens an take out the iads? Too complicated in my opinion and $200 a month is way worse than $2000 for the whole year.

Actually I think quarterly would be better, and yes it would just revert back to regular gs.

Why is it that people with $2000 cannot imagine what it is like NOT to have $2000 in a lump sum. Many say "well just get a credit card"... Some people can't get a credit card.

Or it may take a year to save up $2000 in a lump sum, by then the opportunity will be missed.

"game creation for the rest of us"...yeah right.

What would the cost be? It shouldn't be $499, as that would annoy those who pre-paid for a year. I'm thinking it should probably be like $549 or $599. I could probably manage quarterly payments at those prices.

Since it is a serious investment, you'd create a serious deterrent for shovel-ware makers.

Since it's quarterly, you'd reduce cramming. It's probably a better scenario for Gendai Games than monthly. With a monthly plan, I could take months off from the subscription.

Maybe Gendai Games could do a Summer Sale - upgrade to four months of pro for only $549.

    @Photics - that sounds like a plan.

Now how do we get Gendai to even respond, they seem to be on radio silence regarding this issue.

$500 paid quarterly offers the same yearly revenue for GS as now.

The difference is that express members would make a game with pro features, like it, then continue paying for it.

Paying for it for 3 months then letting it expire would mean pro features, like iAds and such, were not worth it in their opinion.

    Just my two cents. :)

Frankly, with a lot of problems I find every time a new version comes out, I would not pay a penny more.

I like that idea. Still not so cheap we'd have a mass influx of shovelware and not out of reach of those of us who are srious enough about game dev.

Plus it would mean if pro was worth $2k a year, Gandai would end up making more from new users getting to experience it and not wanting to lose those features.

If they don't renew, big deal - they have a few apps with no GS intros and maybe iAds enabled that can't be updated without a pro license (or can be, but then lose iAds and custom screens, etc.)

That said, all I want is App Loader to work - as long as that isn't a pro feature, we're fine :P

I don't think this is going to happen because...

Once you app is built and in the AppStore, that's it.. It's there. Whose to say you won't pay 1 month, update all your games with iAds, Your own splash screen, etc. and then stop paying for Pro membership.

Of course you won't be able to update your app with all those features but not everyone updates their apps that often...

I think I read somewhere in the forums that you can arrange some kind of payment plan with Gendai via the contact form but I think that's as far as it goes...
