Am I the only one have trouble with CAF sound files?

I have lots of OGG files in my app and due to the long load times thought I would try the CAF sound format.

I have converted all my master sound files to 22Khz mono CAF format. but for some reason it is hit and miss if they work?

All the caf files play fine in the GS preview window, fine through the GS web browser plug-in, but when they go over to the iphone some play and some don't?

I have resaved (tried both A-Law and U-Law), reimported, changed files names and recreated the sound behaviours, but its really hit and miss?

Am I the only one, as I'm about to give up and go back to the OGG format which worked, but caused long loading delays.

I'm sorry you are having trouble, the caf files have worked flawlessly for me. Are you using MAX to create the caf files?

have you tried saving using the apple lossless codec? it is supported by ALL ipods, or mpeg-4 AAC which is the default for iphone, both codecs work for me when using CAF files in GS

I'm just looking at MAX to see if I have any luck with that but I see in the output options there are 2 different CAF formats:

Apple CAF File - Core Audio
CAF (Apple Core Audio File) - Libsnfile

    Which one do I use?

I use CAF files exclusively and love it! Wouldn't trade it for anything else when using GS.

Here are two threads where I documented my workflow:
