Preview lags and crashes within 5 minutes

I'm having a problem where when I preview my game, things run fine for the most part at first (sound effects that overlap get cut off, but that's another issue). But after a few minutes, the game will freeze for a few seconds, then resume, and within about 20 seconds the game will freeze again, but for longer. This pattern repeats a few times until it freezes for a while then GameSalad just crashes completely.

I've tried disabling the majority of the sound effects, with no significant impact. This problem never happened in version 0.10.0 on Windows 7, which this project started in. I'm currently on Windows 8.1 with GS 0.10.5.

Anyone have a solution?

It could be bad rules, or your PC/Laptop. I suggest make the changes you want to your game, then SAVE or make a back up. Exit GS, the reopen it to view in the viewer. Its very resource intensive and can crash lots

@jigglybean - thanks for the ideas. I've tried closing/re-opening many times, with no luck. I tried a significantly earlier save, and it did the same thing.

I'd be surprised if it was my PC, since I'm on a more powerful Win8 desktop now than my Win7 laptop, and my Win7 laptop handled it no problem. I've watched the resource monitor and seen the RAM usage climb higher and higher as the game goes on, but when it crashes, there's still plenty of RAM (at least 1 gig or more).

A bad rule might be a possibility, as the only time the game freezes is when an enemy is destroyed, but again I'm beyond puzzled how this never happened in 0.10.0 on Windows 7, exact same project.

Sometimes behaviors get corrupted. See if you can locate the offending logic and replace it.
