Greetings Earthlings! I am proud to present a WIP game that I have been making for some time now,

Please test out my game here:

http://arcade.gamesalad.com/games/128020

This is a alien spaceship game, much similar to Alien Invaders. I made this from scratch by myself, and all artwork is done by me! Please tell me what you think, I need suggestions and help finding bugs!

*Please note that nothing in this game is final. The levels are nowhere near complete. Please do not tell me my game is dumb. It is a work in progress, and I will be making it better.

You can use WASD and Spacebar for controls if the buttons do not work.

If anyone knows how to make a background more distant looking, that would help too. I might try shading it a bit more and see if that helps.

Nice work so far! As far as making the background look more distant here are come thoughts:
Usually the less contrasted and more faded the colors the further away something will look. However that might not be the best bet with your pixel are, and might make the planets not look as cool, but you can play with it.

Second some motion to the background could help for the distance. Having the background move slowly in the background can make it feel like you are moving past it, maybe have the planets in the foreground move slightly faster than the stars to give the effect that the planets are much closer, or just have the planets move and not the stars

Thank you! I will definitely have to try out some of those ideas.

Also, today I worked on the beginning of a coin/shop system! I plan on adding power-ups, and I am thinking about making it possible for the player to purchase upgrades to his/her ship. I also added in a cheat code system, which I am mainly using right now to get more coins to test out my shop

I think I will add a "To-do list" and an update log to the main post, just to keep track of what I have done.

Thank you! I do a little amature pixel art... and I taught myself how to make animations. One day I made a pixel UFO in geometry class, and inspiration struck! When you get an idea I guess you just go with it right?

I need ideas for enemies... I currently have/making 2 different categories of enemies:

    • Meteors (Large space rocks that shoot various projectiles)
    • Robots (Various robotic looking things that shoot lasers [and possibly other things])

I want to make a • Monsters category, and I have the animation for one small monster (look above), but I need ideas for more. Maybe giant space squids? I need ideas!
