The site looks good! It's easy to navigate with a clean, simple design.

I like that you have a simple upload process and that people can submit their own creations. Are you planning to add custom thumbnail images or are you going to ask each contributor to do so? Right now they are just text based on one of the categories.

On the References pages (e.g. http://www.learngs.com/math-functions-explained), the topic font is so large that I can only see 3-4 items per screen. It makes it hard to peruse, at least for me.

Not to be too nit picky but in the intro video at 0:22 in, the font changes and makes the whole thing look a bit run down.

All in all, I think it's going to be a valuable resource for people.

I think any videos should be directed to the creators youtube site and not embeded unless permission is given by the creator. If my videos happen to show up there i will be forced to disable embeding. Also GS is working on a complete group of new videos

I thought that was the point of having an option to enable/disable embedding? You know... So the owner can dictate what can and cannot be embedded by other sites. Not by verbal agreement. Who knows what random person will embedd your video if it's enabled, kinda weird to call out one site.

Considering every video I checked out on this site seems to link to the creator at the top in a very large font... I think hes doing it just right.

Site looks very nice by the way @MattButlerStudios . As @tatiang mentioned, the option to upload an icon, or at least some graphics in addition to the text for each categories icons would be great!

@tatiang Thank you for the kind words.

Are you planning to add custom thumbnail images or are you going to ask each contributor to do so? Right now they are just text based on one of the categories.

I was planning on keeping the text based thumbnails since it allows me to upload quicker. Do you think it looks unprofessional? Since I am the one who uploads all of them, it would be hard for me to generate a custom thumbnail for each. That is why I made some basic thumbnails that I use for the different categories of templates.

On the References pages (e.g. http://www.learngs.com/math-functions-explained), the topic font is so large that I can only see 3-4 items per screen. It makes it hard to peruse, at least for me.

Thank you for pointing that out. The wrong page was in place, so now the correct one is there. It seems to be displaying fine on mine. Please let me know if you still have some abnormal issues.

Not to be too nit picky but in the intro video at 0:22 in, the font changes and makes the whole thing look a bit run down.

I greatly appreciate all of this feedback. It only helps me improve the site! I have fixed the video now and I will have it on the site once it uploads to youtube. Not sure why I didn't notice that before. Nice catch

All in all, I think it's going to be a valuable resource for people.

I really hope so! Thanks again for the comment.

I understand your concerns, and I agree completely. Every bit of content (videos, templates..etc) on the site has been placed there by permission of its owner. I made it my personal responsibility to ensure that I do not use other people's content without them knowing and I can absolutely promise you that your content will not appear on the site without your permission first.

    Hope this clears things up.

I agree! I think my next step is to add screenshots of each template and then possibly a personalized icon. If you didn't know, you can click on the template to view a short description of it. Not sure if that is clear or not. Maybe I'll leave a note at the top of the page for other users to notice that :)

Looking great! I'm sure it will be a frequently used resource!

YES. I think even just a generic graphic thumbnail would be much better than the word "SELECT" or "TEXT" or whatever it is now. As an example, my recipe maker template has the thumbnail "SELECT" which doesn't describe the template at all nor is it visually interesting.

Here's what the math reference page looks like for me:

    @Armelline Thanks :smile:

@tatiang I agree, what about something like this?

Also, with your view of the page are you able to continuously scroll down? I will adjust the font to see if that helps.

@MattButlerStudios don't forget I gave you explicit permission to ise my tutorials however you see fit...and as my only request I did have...you put them in the order I asked. I was under the impression from the original thread you created that no content would be put on your site without their permission anyways.

If you make your site anybetter than this...I will be forced to make more videos...dang you.

So...props to you and your Launch of a very valuable asset to the community.

I have bookmarked this site

Oh and.....nice introduction to LearnGS video.

    [lightbulb image]

Yes, I think something like that would be an improvement.

Also, with your view of the page are you able to continuously scroll down?

Yes. But if I can only see 3-4 descriptions at a time and there are 30 or so, that means I have to scroll down through about ten pages to see them all. With a smaller title font, I could probably view twice as many per page and only have to scroll through a few pages.

@Thunder_Child I did include your tutorials with the initial launch. They are here. If you would like me to change the heading or format, please let me know.

As per the permission, I did in fact state that before but some users may not have seen it.

Thank you for your kind words and any more of your videos are always welcomed on LearnGS.com :)

@tatiang I probably won't go with the bulb exactly, but something like that should work.

As per the post, I am able to view it pretty easily, but I am also viewing on a 27in screen. Did you post that last comment after I decreased the size of the headings once? I understand that viewing it can be a hassle so I definitely want to get it fixed. Let's focus on this page and then I can adjust the others.

Oh, and I edited the video. (check the revised one above) :)

@MattButlerStudios ya I saw them. Was stoked to see them as part of a GS asset. Whahooooo !!

    Thanks again.

@tatiang Glad to hear that it looks better. I will adjust the other pages accordingly.

I have the same comment about the Templates page (don't worry, I'll get to the Videos page next :p ). The thumbnails are really large and end up taking so much of the page space:

Edit: I just looked at GSHelper.com and DeepBlueApps.com for comparison and... they're the same as yours. Lol... I guess it's just me! Carry on.

@tatiang Do you know what size screen you are using? It may be crunching everything to fit with your available screen real-estate. However, I think that your previous observation still remains true with regards to the posts. :)

Anyways, I think the new product images look nice. Very clean and crisp!

My iMac resolution is 1920x1080. It's a 21.5" screen. Yeah, I'm someone who prefers to see more at once and quickly scan than to have it presented in a simplified format. But I think I may be outvoted on this one. ;)

The lightbulbs look much better than the text thumbnails.

@tatiang I agree with you. It is nice to see more content at once. For now I have extended the number of items per page, but I hope to find a solution for making the products smaller so that more can be viewed at once. I appreciate your insight!

  • The_Gamesalad_GuruThe_Gamesalad_Guru Member Posts: 9,922

Thanx matt. I appreciate that. Making videos takes lots of time I have 100 videos and each can take up to three hours to produce and I do use ads on my page to help recoup some of the costs of software I bought just for making videos.. Just to clarify I leave embedding on so they can be posted on the forum without ads. Good luck with your site.

  • MattButlerStudiosMattButlerStudios Member Posts: 486

@The_Gamesalad_Guru Yes, making content requires a lot of work and that is why I want to make sure I go about using it in the correct ways. Thank you for the kind words!
