Hi, don't know if this has been mentioned before or not:

320 x 480 .png files saved in Photoshop (CS2), when brought into GS, the width shows 320 but the height is showing as 479.94 pixels height.

I've never seen that. Are you sure your pixels per inch are a solid 72 when in Photoshop? If you did a screen capture at some point on a Mac, it can get slightly off. Also, set your image to "fixed" not "stretch" in the actor's graphics settings.

Hi design219, nor me; strange, isn't it... I did a test, making a fresh 320 x 480, 72dpi, in PS. Saved one as jpeg, the other as png. Dragged the jpeg into GS, it presumable converted it to png, but either way, the size was showing as exact, i.e 320 x 480. Dragging the png in (pingin'!), the height is showing 479.94 again. This must be a bug, surely...

Hi Gendai, with ref. to the above, there might be a bug in GS when dragging in png; or prob could be with Photoshop CS2? Don't know. Anyhow, thought I'd draw your attention to it.

Have you tried making the png from within photoshop? The best practice is to use the "save for web" feature to make either an 8 or 24 bit png. Using the "save for web" strips some unwanted overhead date (like a icon preview) and will be about as small is can be made.

I don't like the idea of letting GS do my conversion to png, but I've not tried it.

I'll try the save for web feature; good thinking there. I'll let you know how I get on.

That hasn't been a problem for me, at least converting jpg to png... prob's just been with Photoshop png to GS png. (Pinging here, pinging there... ;-)

    :-)
