    @Armelline,

    We actually DQ'ed about a dozen entries for that reason before the judging, but if there are others that you know of, please let me know. We'll redraw any prizes that were awarded to disqualified entries.

    NB: the next time someone asks why we allowed republishing of old games in a game jam, I'm pointing to this thread! :)

    Lengthy list submitted!

    I'm investigating. Some of these I'm going to pass, but for sure the straight republished templates are getting DQed.

    While we're complaining.... the whole thing seems odd. I absolutely hate to slam anyone's work, but the #1 prize winning game is far from, "finished" as the Jam rules stated was a requirement. I highly doubt Apple would accept it after review. I will say it again, it's not that the #1 game is bad, I am simply saying that it is far from finished.

    @jesse75‌ Game Jam games are not always going to be perfect and we don't expect them to be. We just didn't want "tests" or half-baked attempts at making a game being submitted. Ash's entry was pretty clearly an actual game.

    Overlapping text or cosmetic issues don't violate the spirit of the rule, and this kind of sniping at the efforts of individuals who did take the time and effort to build something original is really counter to the goals of the jam and kinda makes me sad. :(

    @dgackey I wasn't "sniping" at anyone's efforts. In case you didn't catch it, I clearly stated that I wasn't saying it was a bad game, it just doesn't have the "finished appearance" the rules stated. If you think that's a finished game, so be it. I disagree. Just opinions, but on to more pressing matters.

    Combined with the current flop happening, I am just skeptical. The more important matter at hand, which is what got many of us steaming in the first place, are the results. That's what's "sad." Top place finishers won by using popular unmodified templates. Not by some obscure template provider, but rather from TOP GameSalad template vendors. Seriously, Snowmen Attack is even offered on the GameSalad Marketplace!! At any rate, we're glad you guys are taking care of it but you have to understand the community's reactions.

    I do love the art style of the winner, very Calvin and Hobbes!

    @jesse75‌

    We can agree to disagree about the tone and constructive nature of your post. We definitely appreciate the community's frustration and I think my response has been pretty clear and consistent that we're not cool with that and will DQ those who violated the rules.

    With that said, if there's someone you should be "steaming mad" at, it seems to me it should be the individuals who willfully broke the rules.

    You seem to be upset that I am not intimately familiar with all of the templates that Darren and others have developed; unfortunately, the breadth and depth of the work that we all need to do here at GS precludes that. Even on our own Marketplace. (Seriously, there are over 400 templates for sale right now)

    At any rate, we're addressing the concerns now; I've committed the entire day to cleaning this up. We will take all of this in mind before doing another jam, that's for sure.

    No thanks necessary, it's what needs to be done and it's the right thing to do. I just need to figure out how to get another 8 hours of work time into my day! :)

    A very public shout-out of thanks to @Armelline‌ for the help tracking these down.

    @dgackey I have an easy solution. Next time let the community vote. Each one once. And let them flag suspicious behaviour.

    This is no matter how you put it very shameful. Such a shame because Gamesalad and a lot of users are so awesome. :'(

    Congratz guys! And thanks for handling the damage control so well @dgackey

    It's a sad truth, but people are more willing to cheat than play by the rules if it benefits them.

    We can certainly allow the community to vote on the best of jam, because those are subjective, but I fear that may lead to even more ballot-stuffing. The sweepstakes is designed to be objective and fair, we just need a better way to weed out games that violate the rules (without the review process becoming so time consuming that we'd just as soon not do it at all).

    I understand. Thanks for your reply @dgackey‌ . Maybe have some trusted chefs check if the games are legit then. It really hurts me this happened. So sorry. :(

    I remember the first Game of the Year where the community voted for the best game. I can't remember how many PMs I got asking for me to vote for certain games, but it was a lot. Honestly, I like the idea of community vote, but the last one didn't go to well...at least for my inbox. :) Perhaps a more specific group should vote.

    congrats all! So many ways community vote could go wrong. Some people would probably waste their vote on a horrible game so theirs could do better.

    As far as future Jams, I think drawing from a hat would make it easier on staff.

    I think its time to create our own "Hollywood Foreign Press Association" consisting of a few members who secretly decide in a political decision of who should win the "Golden GameSalad Game Globe Award". The winners are announced at a party where all the top game developers attend even though they were not nominated*.

    *Winning a Golden GameSalad Game Award does not mean the developer will win or be nominated for any "GameSalad Game Academy Awards (Oscars).

    Hi everyone,
    I can not understand all of the circumstances, because of my poor English.
    But sincerely, "Thank you!"
