Do you have what it takes to become a business tycoon in the dog eat dog world of the emerging marijuana industry?

In Weed Tycoon 2, you are a bud-trepreneur attempting to take over the marijuana industry in Hemp Town, as you run illegal underground businesses out of town. You are approached by the Mayor to open a legal dispensary on a trial basis to see how weed legalization can positively effect a starving economy. You spread your business amongst 3 maps and numerous different marijuana businesses, as you pay taxes that help revitalize Hemp Town's economy. Eventually, the Mayor's greed consumes him as he demands "campaign contributions" to keep him on your side. Because you don't fall for the extortion, he begins to over tax your industry to bring back the black market, which is willing to pay him under the table. You must run for Mayor to push the corruption out for good, as you become a Weed Tycoon!

Game Features:

  • Play on 3 different maps.

  • Manage a Pot Shop that is customizable with furniture.

  • Manage 3 ganja farms including an indoor growhouse. Care for the crops to produce better yields and higher quality strains that sell for better prices.

  • Operate a joint dispensary Pot Van and a vending dispensary Pot Box.

  • Bake hash edibles in your Bakery.

  • Play through 4 different mini games to unlock furniture, strains, rep, money, and storage space.

  • Manage your upkeep and pay your bills on time or pay penalty fees.

  • Collect from customers as you take control of a map.

I would greatly appreciate any reviews or feedback you could leave me. If you would like me to return the favor, drop an Android link to your game in this thread.

*Assistance: If you have an older device running Gingerbread OS or API 10, could you please download the game and let me know how it plays. My older device isn't working well right now and I can't charge it. I need to figure out if I should limit the API.

Thanks for checking it out :D, let me know what you think.

    @FallacyStudios‌ Will Apple even accept this game? Just wondering because of the concept.

    I highly doubt that Apple would accept such a game. In the past a game called "Weed Firm" hit the top charts and was taken off of the app store. I just looked up the title once again and it has been republished as "Tea Firm". Same concept but its now differentiated from semi-illegal activity. :wink: All the best with this release!

    @Lovejoy @MattButlerStudios They can and I should be able to. I have the original game Weed Tycoon already on the iOS and Mac stores. Weed Firm I am well aware of. Theirs was just a big disgrace in my opinion. It was all about illegal activity and shady dealing.

    Mine aren't about illegal aspects. Actually mine include political satire and commentary on the social injustice of marijuana criminalization and the problems it creates. As well as the economic benefits of it.

    @FallacyStudios lol, that trailer made me laugh! (don't mean that in any disrespectful way btw :) )

  • MattButlerStudiosMattButlerStudios Member Posts: 486

    @FallacyStudios‌ That is true. Since there are some places in the states that allow marijuana it should be considered "legal" activity. There especially shouldn't be a problem if you already have a version approved and since you are downplaying the use of it in society. I just thought I should let you know if you weren't already aware of Weed Firm. Anyways, all the best! -Matt

    @MattButlerStudios Thanks for the heads up man. Lol speaking of that app. Those guys re-released it as Tea Firm. Stumbled upon it when I was looking up keywords to use lol.

  • MattButlerStudiosMattButlerStudios Member Posts: 486

    @FallacyStudios‌ I know, I thought that was pretty hilarious considering the fact that the game now makes zero sense. All of these people are knocking on the door for... tea :wink:

    @Lovejoy Nah it wasn't a fight over the content. They didn't like the way I implemented the difference between the paid and free versions. I thought it was pretty witty, but they didn't like it.

    Basically in the original version, free users could play through the entire game, but after 15 mins of consistent gameplay you were locked out for 1 hour. At that point you had 2 options to jump right back in the game. Buy the pro version, or check out 1 ad which unlocked the game for another 15mins. There were other loopholes I left in to avoid it as well though. Like you could keep jumping in and out of the game and as long as you didn't hit the 15 min mark it wouldn't lock you out. So like 10 mins of playing jump out for a few mins then jump back in for 10 more mins and you wouldn't get locked.

    Anyways, suffice to say, they didn't care for it. So I just locked the other 2 maps on the free version for a quick fix. Just took a while with all the back and forth and multiple days "In Review" on both submissions.

    @Lovejoy Thanks. Yea I was going to test out that system based on studies that cutting people off from a game can enhance the addiction to play. :P.

    Funny how it's frowned upon when a smaller player does this. EA did the same kind of thing with Dungeon Keeper - locking content behind MANY pay walls, including progression.

    Not sure if they did the whole 'watch a video/ad' to unlock though

    @jigglybean Yea thats what I pointed out to them. That other bigger developers are doing this, but it didn't change their mind. Oh well. I'm just glad it's finally on the market is all.

    It's only Weed. Probably 65%* of Apple users smoke the stuff!

    @http_gamesalad Yea, why not?

    I can't understand why it would be bad for these markets to allow a game based on Weed (especially set in a legal setting) when all these markets frequently allow games and apps through based on alcohol and murder. Alcohol kills, weed doesn't. Also on a side note, this game doesn't encourage it's use. You are just running a legal weed business as if you were in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, or Alaska.

    @jigglybean Lol :P

    good move forward for the pro-weed world.
    I tried it with shrooms and a trip simulator cookie clicker..

    apple didn't liked it.

    Now the game is about a rotating lebkuchen/gingerbread with flashy effects..

    @BigDave Nice. Yea I suppose I can see why with the shrooms. It has been relatively recent that I got them to loosen the screws on the weed types. Used to be near impossible to get it on there.
