Im looking to see if game salad is what we really want to use to make games and we wanted to see if there are any popular games that are having success and making some profit?

SOS by @quantumsheep was under the best new games section in the app store a few weeks ago.
Making good games is only one part of the process. Promoting and getting them seen is another.
I make decent games but my problem is promoting them as I do not have a budget to do so with. And theres only so many free things to use.

This past summer was good for me. I had two features on the App Store homepage.

Remember the software doesn't make the game the developer does. Weather or no GS developers have hit tiles is not a reflection of the quality of the tool. That's like asking what hammer did the carpenter use to build that nice house.

But quality and capabilities of tool, do affect the end quality of the product.
Shadows Peak is an atmospheric psychological horror that explores the dark side of a player.
Lots of people have had success using GS.
2 of our games Bumps and Red Ball of Goo reached #17 & #19 in the US charts a while back.
Its more than possible to have success with GS but obviously it depends how much effort you put in.
Darren.
That wasn't the question. if the question was "could I make a best selling game with GS." Has anyone made a best selling game with it is irrelevant to using the software. It's like asking if anyone won a Oscar using Final Cut Pro to edit their movie.

Although we don't like to mention it, GameSalad was used to produce at least two worldwide number 1 games. One that was manipulated to the top by playing the App Store, and the other that got to the top by cashing in on two trends current at the time.

I think he meant, is Gamesalad good in comparison to other products (unity 3d, etc.) and is the quality of a game that Gamesalad produces good enough to become popular.
In my own opinion, GS has it's ups and downs, but if you know what you're doing, you can do anything and it will look/feel good. If you don't know what you're doing though, it's going to function like a wooden toaster.
A very successful game was FireMaple's "Secret of Grisley Manor." There's also been many moderately successful games too. Some of mine have made upwards of $10k. I think what produces successful games made with GS is obviously quality, but also creating the type of game that GS excels at. Since the capabilities are limited (at this time) in some departments such as physics or using complex graphics/particles, it won't turn out as well as if created in some other engines. I think the best ideas for GS games are well designed and simple. I know personally when you try to get too complex it becomes difficult to get the desired results from GS.
Hopefully some of this will change soon with the updated graphics performance. I'm not sure how long we'll have to wait for a better physics engine though
Gamesalad is a good software to use. You can make some good games with it. But that depends on how hard you try.
I actually found out yesterday that in February this year, my app 'Flappy Birdie' was #2 on the Amazon App store in........Canada! lol as a paid app. Well impressed really
