OMG, I called it... he's seriously going to be in the top 10 soon. Wake up, I want to know your figures! Doodle Cannon HD sold 78 yesterday evening after being featured and it's rising the charts (now in the top 100). I'm going to update & price drop it soon so hopefully that will help sales get even better. (going to try the expedited review email idea that Butterbean suggested)
Do you guys think I should keep the price at .99 and try to get to the top of the charts? Or let the price go to 2.99 later today like it was scheduled to?
And please, even if you don't have an iPad, get a promo code and rate the game! eastboundstudios (at) gmail.com
And there are dumb reviewers with iPads, too, I'm afraid. Checked reviews this morning, and had one say that the game was a bit of fun and addicting, but not in the good way. 1 star. Wtf? Ah well
It's not a good thing to mess w/ an upward trend, so I wouldn't advise a price increase right now. It's a tough call though. I am doing a price *drop* soon because my theory is that when you're featured you have max exposure and there's a lot of people that will dl something @ $0.99 but won't take the plunge at $1.99 or higher for an 'unknown' game. Then once you establish your ground more then raise the price. btw, great job w/ sales. That will buy a LOT of ramen
Haha plenty of Ramen indeed. What I love about working in the app store is you work hard for a bit, if you have other apps they'll still make you some money as you work, and then once you finally get to release it, the fun begins. It's all so thrilling in a really nerdy, not thrilling way from an outsider's view.
And I've decided to ride out the .99 price tag. While it might stifle the potential money I could have made, I'd be kicking myself if I killed the apps run up the charts. At the end of the day, I'd rather say my app made it to #6 game in the app store than make a thousand more dollars or so (both of these being wishful thinking, of course). I think the former would look better on a resume as well.
So congrats again Crazybreadman, and thanks for the kind words and support everyone else!
It's always very risky raising the price once your app is in the top rankings.... I hesitate to say, go ahead and raise it! But I don't think $1.99 would be a huge risk.... $2.99 would be.
It's up to you, but since your featured, raising it another dollar may not make a difference... let us know what you do either way!
I agree with butterbean, although i don't have an iPad $2.99 seems a bit pricey (although i guess i don't know what the standard price is for a game like yours).
Personally I would leave it a bit and see how high it climbs and then raise the price.

Maybe changing it to 1.99 instead of 2.99 might be good? See how that does, then change it to 2.99?
Not sure? Or you could just go for the 2.99, see how it does, and if the ranking drops, drop the price again!
Edit: If you did $1.99, just be sure to state that it is still a reduced rate (33% off) for a limited time.
