Assigning attributes to randomly chosen values from a table

Hi Guys,
I need a little help, with differentiating attributes that get associated with random variables generated from a table.
E.g:
I have a column with 20 words (one word per row). 10 of the words are loving the other 10 are hateful.
I am using a random selection function, and want the loving words to have one attribute (L) and the hateful words another (H).
My problem is, how to have the program assign the correct attribute to each word that gets randomly selected.
