Opinions on your favorite pixel art/animation software?
Indie game development can be a very inspiring but overwhelming hobby. Getting into the swing if things I'm looking into making an 8-Bit pixelated 2D game since the art assets and atmosphere seem like a great start for beginners. Naturally I'm looking into buying the perfect pixel creation software for art and animations. Asking for the best software is way too cliche as it varies among users so I want to hear people's opinions on what they think is the best pixel software and why as well as an example of some work done by it if you have any. Like I said I'm a beginner so Id prefer something with an easy interface while at the same time being able to use the assets "professionally" but I am open to all opinions regardless of the software that's used.

I purchased this for $4 - converts standard art to pixel art. You need to have a play to get a size to suit but it's worked great for a game that I originally had planned as a started 2d and converting to pixel.
Its an action tool for Photoshop, if you have that

Wow, this tool actually looks pretty amazing, it's almost too good to be true. Though tbh I was really shooting for making my own 8-Bit and animating them myself but I'll definitely keep this tool in mind in case I need a more advanced sprite.
It comes in 3 sizes - small/medium and large - you just need to play around with that to see which fits best in terms of how large the pixel are.
Just a warning though, once you've converted the art, you can't undo the action. So if you don't like the added effect, just don't save the art and and close it. Then re-open it again

So you have to make your own art? You can't use any picture or other forms of art?
Hey there! I recently found this website and you should check it out. (It turns any image of your choice into 8-bit!)
