@scuurpro That bug you are talking about I believe happened i earlier versions of GS. i have not had that problem for a while now.
Are you using the latest stable release?

@lycettebros‌ It says I am using the newest version when I try and update it. My version is 0.11.0.13

@scuurpro I remember that bug in earlier versions of GS. I have not been using 11.0.13 consistently so I could be wrong but it looks like you are experiencing it.
When it happened to me it usually was a sign that the software was about to crash. I would save the file or not (depending of the lost image was saveable) and restart the software.

This used to happen a lot in versions of GS prior to 10.0.13, but I've not seen it in the new version - although I do get the same issue when deleting audio in the new version.

The problem will not go away. Although like @Socks I am surprised it is still happening.
It could be something to do with your OS version perhaps.
It is one of those things you have to learn to live with.

You can register the bug with all your details.

The image deletion bug is still present in 10.0.3 . . . . I got it occasionally when attempting to delete audio but now I am getting the issue with images . . . . highlight a file, hit delete, it is not removed, but other files you had not highlighted are deleted.

I've always had this issue. I dont even bother deleting images anymore because im too afraid... its been a issue for years. I think it gets worse the more images you have in a project.

It happens everytime you try to del the last image you added as well.

Yep! Agreed, I though it was dealt with in 10.0.3 but unfortunately it's still there.

I did find an interesting pattern. I had this same issue, and rather than randomly deleting an image, it appeared to be deleting the image exactly 4 spaces to the right of the one I had selected. In my case I added a few more and then selected the one 4 past the one I wanted to delete and it worked. Fortunately for me, I could easily add back the images I wanted. Not sure it the number of spaces or even the behavior would be the same for others, but figured I would share what I had found. I am using 0.11.1.5 beta.

    Hope it helps someone.

I'm experiencing this with GS 0.13.33. Does anyone have a workaround for this bug?

@izam before deleting images, save, close GS, re-open GS, delete images.
Seems to work this way for me.

Can't you open GS project package. Go into image folder and delete them there??

Not a great solution but I believe it works.

I am the engineer fixing the bug.

@BlackCloakGS thank you very much! I will wait for the fix.

  • izamizam Member, PRO Posts: 503

@NipaDidIt I have tried your workaround. It worked the first time. But subsequent times it still deletes other images instead of the ones that I chose to delete.

  • BlackCloakGSBlackCloakGS Member, PRO Posts: 2,250

There is more to it then missing images. Has to do with replacing an image with a image with the same name just different case. HUD.png vs Hud.png . You will get one image on disk but two in the assets.xml which cases the issue. Removing the dupes in the xml should fix the issue. I am still working on a fix.

@BlackCloakGS is it safe to delete images directly from the file package contents?

  • supafly129supafly129 Member Posts: 454

can anyone confirm if deleting images directly from a project's package contents is safe/has any adverse effects?

  • izamizam Member, PRO Posts: 503

@supafly129 deleting images from the package seems ok to me. But do not delete the assets.xml. It seems that deleting the images from the package will result in blank image files in the creator. Which means the image file is still being pointed to via xml.

  • supafly129supafly129 Member Posts: 454

@izam ok, just wanted to make sure that deleting images via the package wasnt impacting the xml in any negative way or bloating the game somehow since it references blank image files

@supafly129 no problem on my side so far :)
