cool game i'll check it out. it looks real nice.
Nice design!
Thanks guys. Im normally an app designer. I just made the graphics.
Gamesalad has been amazing! I know I'm GS's target, but I can honestly say it's made self publishing possible for me. For the last few years i've been at the mercy of game developers and their schedules. It's not the most complex game I have going but i'm happy I was able to publish my own game!
Thanks everybody! Im glad you guys like it so far!
@LucidFuel is there a big difference between making a game for the app store and a actual app? is one harder than the other.
Like most would say, it's depends on the app.
But i will say this. If you have 2 apps of equal complexity. I wouldnt say one is harder then the other. It's more like apples are oranges.
With Games, you need to understand game psychology. Like to be blunt, this game has the stripped down game psychology of a top down shooter. Players react and interact in certain ways and you need to balance reward with challenge. etc You also design for a larger audience. These game apps, we try to get as many players as we can. Corporate apps you target a specific target market of a very specialized demographic.
Apps design i find I spend a lot of time handling the flow of information. I think of the UX design a lot. Good UX you shouldn't notice. The user should understand where to go and what they need to do to access what they need to access. Its important to games as well. But with games, you can make things blink and jump out etc. Little tricks you can't do for corporate clients.
The biggest challenge of self publishing is you dont have anybody to help or ask when something goes wrong. At work, id have a team of people I can pass jobs on to.
The bright side is, your not working by committee. Often corporate app work you just make tons of compromises. When you do these indie projects it much more rewarding as you get to do what you like. Not what your stake holders and boss wants you to do. Regardless of how good or bad it is for the app all based on opinions.
This topic is more of an article then it is a blog post tbh.
Hey man, great game, played it for a bit you mite want to change your collision shape from square to circle on the enemy's and character just a thought, it's under the physics menu within each actor! If you don't know but yeah great game, also sorry to go on, this could have easily been a universal app for all ios devices you know! keep up the good work
Looking good!
