First off hi!

My latest game has just been released into the app store. Its called Hunterboy! and is a rpg game where the player has to collect Dobutsu (animals) and battle their way through the towns/cities with their Dobutsu to win medals. Along to way the player can do small side task where they can earn xp and yen. The game was inspired by pokemon but it still has its own unique beauty.

I put quite alot of hard work into this game so if you could check it out and support me that would be great! Thank you!

i purchased your game and heres my feedback:

1)the controls are not my type, they can be very annoying, but after time you get used to them.

2)At the start i was quite confused and had no clue of where to go. i ended up entering every single house and talking to everyone, maybe you should add an option to have a compass? like in swordigo.

3)the game runs very nice on my iphone 4s, the graphics are very nice alongside the music.
I like the extra detailed affects you've added in. such as the fading text and so on, all these little details which you've added makes a big difference

4)to me, it didn't feel like there was a story, it just felt like, do this quest, have this, give me this and battle.
    But maybe thats just me?

5)you have a nice battling system, but i find it hard to find a wild monster to battle, and by this i mean i walk through a lot of the tall grass to find one.

Overall i can see you've put a lot of effort into this game and it was worth the purchase, it just needs a little more work.
    I give this a 4 out of 5 for a gamesalad game :)

    EDIT))))
but with the controls, i recommend adding a joystick.

@CodeMonster Thanks for your feedback and purchase  Over the next few weeks I plan to add more, maybe ill include a compass, that could be quite a cool idea. I also plan to build on the story thats why there are places that are blocked for now.. they will eventually open in the coming updates, like new towns, characters, battles etc.

With the grass I have a random timer of 1,20 seconds for a match to trigger when in the long grass. When I used to play pokemon I found it really annoying when you use to come out of one battle and move and be straight into another, so I thought I would be better if I give the player abit more time between battles.

    Helllo!

    I just bought your game.
    My first impressions.

    • The controls are not good, I wanna go up AND right at same time.
    • Maybe a joystick will be great
    • I liked the effort you put on this game
    • The loading of battles are awesome
    • You need to change the name of your game to something more commercial
    • Hunter Boy! A monster catching game
    • Hunter Boy! A RPG monster game
      ...

We want people to find it using the search bar!!
Congrats for your game, it must have take a lot a time to be made.

Up and right at same time? like diagonal? I wanted to keep it old style, like in pokemon where you could only go one way at a time.

I'm just about to upload a new version now so maybe ill add a bit more to the title like you mentioned.

    Thanks for buying aswell

Yes you can catch 'Dobutsu' in my game (which is Japanese for animal) when your in a battle with another Dobutsu and you weaken them you can throw out a hunterball and if your lucky it will catch that Dobutsu.

Nice looking game. Lol would have been great to follow the April Fools Google threw out. You could have gotten some nice traction with the "Chrome" monster catcher thingy.

    My impressions:
    1. for me some of the textures are not "Crispy" - I mean that it seems like some are retina, and some aren't? Some have a slight blur on them (trees bushes etc.) But buildings look great.
    2. Yes the controls make me want to throw my device and walk away. lol If your intention is like the old style D-pad, then make it function like a D-pad and not separate the UI.
    3. Controls shouldn't be colors IMO, pick a nice color and drop the opacity on it.
    4. Navigation is confusing and yes I agree that a compass would be great.
    5. The "Hunterball" you really need to change the design. It looks sooo much similar to the Chrome icon that when I see your game, all I see is Chrome. I would change it, or at least don't use the EXACT same colors as the Chrome icon. You will def get people who bounce and pass on your game just because of this.

Nice work getting an RPG game completed! Good luck to you!

out of curiosity, how did you do your graphics? Like where'd you get them? did you draw them, or did you hire an artist?

    Just submitted a new update...

Changed the controls to a more easier version.
Change hunterball... No more googleish look...
Made a few changes to the layout for navigation.
Made timer lower when in grass looking for a fight.

See some pics below of the new controls... they do feel alot better.

Looks good! Will there be an option to move the d-pad from the right side if the screen to the left?

I had a template with controls you can move to wherever best fits your needs, I'll see if I can find a preview or a tutorial on how its done! Could be something to think about
