From Paid...to Free

So I was thinking about taking a couple of my paid apps that have fizzled out (or never really went anywhere) and now making them into free games with ads. My only concern will be to those customers who have already paid for the app. Is there anything that I can do to ensure that they still get the regular version?

I think no, if you update for free version. What about lite version with ads? Or In-App Purchase?

I agree...couldn't think of a way. I was hoping to just keep the one title instead of two separate but it may be the only way. I appreciate the response.

    Not at all :)
I have noticed one application, they made update with in-App purchase. Previously it was cost 2.99$ now it's free. Something is written if I bought it before I can clear password. I don't understand clearly and I'm didn't updated. I mean you can do something like that?

It is possible to allow existing owners to keep using the app ad free when you push the ad enabled update. I'm on my phone at the moment so can't go into massive detail but when I've done it I've looked for a saved attribute that an existing (and therefore paid) user will have but a new user will not (as they've never run the app before).

People that bought your game previously will get an update, and notice the app is free now, but now it has ads in it, which they paid full price not to receive. Could tick a few people off, undoubtedly.

i agree @slickzero ... that is what I would like to avoid. At the same time, I am interested in giving a new life to some of my apps, so I'm just curious if there is a tried and true way that those who have already purchased the app still have the full version, rather than the one with ads.

The idea of some sort of saved attribute for those users seems like a good bet, but I think it would require 2 updates...one given weeks earlier that would give them the attribute since it currently doesn't exist...and the next update that is now free with ads. Those that already paid, would have the loaded attribute that clears the ads. Just a thought...any others?
