App Rejected

Not sure what exactly I am doing wrong. I tested it on my iphone and every screen functions exactly how it should, and looks exactly how it should, there are no parts that are cut off like the screen shots I am receiving from apple. Does my app have to be formatted for iphones and ipads even if I only want it to be available for iphones?

Here is what im getting from apple

Hi, did you uploaded iPad screenshots in iTunes Connect? if yes delete them, if you want to publish your game only for iPhones.

@kipdev If you are publishing for iPhone4 and 5 then you need to support both screen sizes - which means the app must work for both AND screenshots submitted for both.

Thank you that is helpful, i will delete the ipad screenshots. I still do not understand why apple is saying sending me screen shots of cropped screens. What I mean by this for example, is my retry button is on the bottom left hand corner of the screen, on my iphone it runs fine. but apple is only only display (try) so the (re) is cut off of the screen. Not sure what is causing this to happen.

When you publish are you selecting overscan or letterbox? If you select overscan it will zoom in on your game to fill the device screen. If you don't account for that zoom it will cut off pieces of your game.

Personal suggestion get the new release candidate and publish using the stretch option, nothing is going to be cut off and you won't have to adjust anything. Just test your game first to make sure everything is still running smooth before publishing.

2:10 guidelines>>>>iPhone Apps must also run on iPad without modification, at iPhone resolution, and at 2X iPhone 3GS resolution//// Does anyone know how i can resolve this issue? i formatted the app for the iphone, not the ipad, but apple is saying it needs to be formatted for ipad also? how do i submit it both ways? do i have to redo the whole game?

You have to build the game in Overscan and not letterbox. Apple will not accept letterbox games. Unfortunately this means if you want to have a Universal build, you will need to use some logic to adjust the layout when the game is being played with iPad. Of course this depends on your game.

    where is the overscan option?

When you publish it will ask you an option. Select overscan for crop or stretch to auto-adjust for all device screen sizes.

okay so there is no way to complete this in gamesalad? because when i switch back and forth from iphone to ipad. my background does not stretch, there is a black top piece and bottom piece.

You are publishing with letterbox. Again, try to use the overscan or stretch feature when publishing.

oh i see, thank you SO much. I remember selecting that now. you've said me so much time and headache. Thank You!!!

Weird that gamesalad only has the letterbox drop down box and not the stretch option. really no way to preview the game properly in game salad. testing works great on my iphone, but i dont have a ipad otherwise i just would have tested it on the ipad also. really hope selecting this option works

I just got my iphone app rejected because it showed up cropped on the iPad.

So, just to be clear, checking "Stretch" is the best option (as opposed to letterbox and overscan)?

I hate when people use stretch option, because image became stretched, cycles became ovals on devices with different aspect ratio etc. I've never seen a quality game, that uses that option and I don't understand why apple even allows this.

So I wouldn't call it best option. For situation when I don't want to put extra work for different aspect ratio support, I choose letterbox.
