it could be luck
he could have better keywords
he could have a more attractive icon (subjective to the user)
but really, if there was a single answer, we'd all be rich by now.

$2 a day is pretty good. It won't make you rich but for just starting that's great. Just sayin.

you are right @jonmulcahy maybe it's just a luck!!! I am really jealous to him. I am his designer and he ask me to reskin that game but he doesn't have any idea that i both the same game and I had a better everything on his game. but then then when it comes to number of downloads and earning it's like a rocket vs a snail!!!!
I agree @blue_elephant maybe it's just because I am terribly jealous with all of those effort on the graphics part when it comes to earning why is he making that much with that crappy graphics!!! That is why I was so curious of HOW COME he have been making that much out of that crappy work!!!
How about links to the games so we can give you real feedback?
@BazookaTime sure buddy here is my game "Hoppy Froggy" - my client's Game "Flappy Dragon"
One thing I noticed is the client already has more games which gives him more of a fanbase. Also his has the name flappy in it which probably adds to the value. His also has more screenshots and seems more familiar to the original flappy bird game.
Adding screenshots, names, and tags can change a games outcome a lot.

Honestly, I prefer his game. Nothing against you, but as a guy, I'd be more willing to play as a dragon than as a frog. Plus, in my opinion, his graphics seem better. He could also be cross promoting it with his other apps.
Just keep trying and pushing yourself. Each game should be better than the previous.

@Braydon_SFX I see that was really helpful buddy thank you so much YEAH I will keep pushing my self thank you so much!!! by the way can you teach me or give me an advice on how to cross promoting with other apps?
@blue_elephant Yeah now I know thank you so much buddy...
His graphic is not as bad as you said. I agreed with blue. The flappy word In his title might get his game easier to be found then yours since a lot of people tried to search for flappy bird game.

It can be as simple as updating all of your other apps and having a pop up show on the menu informing the player that a new game is out. Ask them if they'd like to download it, and if they tap yes, link then to your new game.

@Braydon_SFX wow yeah that was a good idea I will incorporate that on my updates though I haven't done any updates yet. Thank you for that brilliant idea....
how about the cross player marketing does that helps a lot?
It's really in the name.... The one that uses flappy would me downloaded more times !
I see thanks for the comment @freshworksplay you're all amazing guys!!!
even if you don't promote your app having a good name, keyword, description, screenshot and icon can drive you more downloads???
yes.. better everything will improve your chances of success. No guarantee but it should help.
I see thanks @StormyStudio What about software guys is there any software that helps you in marketing your apps? or it's just a pure organic marketing?
Most people find paying for marketing has little to no effect...
You can track your sales with websites like App Annie, or have software on your mac like AppViz 2.
Try different strategies: try making your game free with in app purchase, or adverts, or paid and drop the price to free, post on forums like Touch Arcade to announce your game... send out press releases... Google indie game marketing techniques... read and try everything and learn..
No matter what you do your best bet is still to make the best possible game you can.
Above all make sure you enjoy the process of making it as there is no guarantee of success no matter what you do.
@StormyStudio You've said it enough thank you so much... I owe you for those wonderful advice!!! Yeah I am enjoying these long process towards maybe success or not... =p But seriously guys you are all awesome thank you so much!!!
It's really tough to stand out from a flooded market. There's already hundreds of flappy clones. And they are starting to lose popularity.
The ones you see at top of charts are often from known developers that already have a huge following, then they send push notifications when they release a new game , and it almost immediately climbs the charts.
There's no easy one way for unknown indie developers to rocket their game to fame/success. Honestly, just starting and getting $2 a day is above average.
I've personally tried different marketing options like iAds with ios and Facebook page promoting. Didn't make a significant difference.
It's kind of like a lottery. Either hope your game is original enough and polished that Apple features it, or media outlets cover it. That's the only real legit way to get a ton of downloads immediately without having a prior large following ... At least from what I have gathered over the past year+... And a flappy bird clone won't get any coverage .. Best of luck!
quick question @Jepoiy, who wrote the game?
