iOS Review times

ArmellineArmelline Member, PRO Posts: 5,354
How are people finding review times at the moment? Previously I've found 3-5 days to be typical for Apple, but I pushed an update out for one of my games (updates I've found to be quicker in general) and it took 8 days to be rejected (for the iAd thing) and now it's been well over a week (very nearly two) since I resubmitted.

Is this Flappy Bird striking again and clogging the queues, or am I just being really unlucky?

Apple can take from 1 up to 2 weeks. At times they get more caught up with their ques which will then allow them to get pushed out sooner and other times they get slammed and ends up taking longer. This is a normal thing and happens all the time.

Around 10 days for me lately.

Well I'm well above the times estimated in @KevinCross' link, but sounds like others are having similar delays.

I've never before had more than 1 week and never close to two, though, @KillerPenguinStudios. Hence my wanting to find out if others are in the same boat :D

You may have to be signed in but they "say" as of Feb 21st....they are at 98-99% of both new and updating reviews.

Keep in mind I believe these are business days.

The only time I've had an app 'stuck in review' has been when it's had a problem - in my case, the 'advertising stuff but no advertising' bug in publishing with GS.

Perhaps that's the cause of the delay?

I rebuilt it and resubmitted it after GameSalad announced the fix for that. So I really hope is isn't, as if it is I don't see what I can do to rectify it. Pretty sure the fix went out on the 15th, and I republished then. Pah, guess I'll just have to wait and see.

In my experience, generally under a week. I've also found that if your metadata gets rejected and you fix it right away, they re-review the metadata and push the app to the app store within 12 hours, which is quite different from when my binaries have been rejected, which they review in the normal time period.

Still nada :D They must be slammed. My app update hasn't even entered review yet, so I don't think it can be anything specific to me holding them up. Good thing I'm... no, no I'm not patient :D

    13 days and counting.

Still in review, and up to 17 days in review now. Anyone submitted a game since the 15th Feb and had it be reviewed?

Edit: Okay, Apple are totally monitoring my communciations... I posted this and literally seconds later my app went into review.

Here's hoping the framework issue was really fixed.

I've got an app update that's been 'in review' for at least four days. So about 10 days in total which is longest I've waited.

Well I thought it said that, after opening it was a rejection

"App names in iTunes Connect and as displayed on a device should be similar, so as not to cause confusion"

Anybody got an idea why I would getting this on an update, when nothing has been changed on itunes Connect or on the publishing site name wise?

    o.O

I pray mine doesn't now spend 4 days in review... But it's also clear the queue isn't a strictly "first come first served" basis :D

I think it has to do with a few things. First, the flappy bird clones are probably clogging up the queue. Second - how well the game plays (buggy or not) and various other factors.. perhaps copywright stuff.. universal builds, etc.

I submitted a universal app game Feb. 19th. Got put into review on the 25th. Then once in review, after about 4 hours, got another email stating that it would require additional review time. Never had that issue before. Next day, nothing. I email asking for status update.. No reply. Another day passes.. on the 27th, I email again stating that I am a little worried about the 'additional review time' and hope to know why so I can resolve it next time. No response, and 4 hours later - it gets released to App Store.

Maybe they brought on a buncha new employees due to the spike of Apps popularity. Who knows.. but I wouldn't think , once in review, should be longer then 24 hours without further notice of 'additional review time needed' email.

    Best of luck

Mine was just an update to a previous released game :( First time it got rejected due to the framework bug in GameSalad, and I pushed an new build later that day. It seems absurd that it's taken this long, especially with other games being reviewed after being submitted later. Guess there are different queues for new releases and updates.

Took about 6 days when I submitted the app originally.

Interesting. I would think it's the same, as I updated an App a few months back and it took same time, well - actual review was less, like 2 hours.

I just submitted an update to that same App this Sunday (yesterday) so I'll try to let ya know how long it takes. I'm hoping not much longer then a week!

My previous app updates have taken a lot less time than new apps, so the situation at the moment is definitely not typical. Ah well.

    Rejected:

"However, we have verified that your app contains code that is accessing the Advertising Identifier, however, we did not see ads served in your app. As stated in section 3.3.12 of the iOS Developer Program License Agreement, an app must serve ads in order to use the Advertising Identifier"

I republished it after the fix was announced. Sigh.

Doesn't seem any point resubmitting until this issue is fixed for certain.

EDIT: I must have gotten your issue confused with something else going on. Sorry about that. Adding iAds would probably get it approved but that shouldn't be the solution for a game that's not meant to have iAds. I thought this issue was fixed, guess not. Hope it gets worked out for you soon!

My game doesn't use iAds. Perhaps the best solution is to enable them...

Apparently not :( I'm not bothering to submit again until we get some word from the GS team. There have been reports of this problem for about a week now with no response yet :(
  • BazookaTimeBazookaTime Member Posts: 1,274
I submitted another bug report, although it is kind of ridiculous to have to do that since this issue has been known for some time now.
